hi i have a couple questions first off im making a homeaid CAI and i was wondering is there a way to get the sensor that hooks to mass air flow sensor out of the factory plastic shield without breaking the plastic??? and also any ideas on how to hook the k&n filter up to mass air flow sensors four bolts?? please awnser as soon as possible as i am working on it tonite and have everything tore out and need car for work tommorow, any info would be greatly appreciated thanx

I really wish I had some advice for you but I haven't a clue at what you are dealing with visually.
Are you talking about the MAF element that is in that plastic tube? This is my power pipe not a CAI but may be close to your project. The Maf is connected to bolted plate that bolts to the cylinder that the K&N inserts over and the other side of the Maf is using a rubber sleeve to connect to the pipe.

not sure what sensor you're talking about, but whatever it is, you should be able to break it completly down without breaking anything. The KanN, if it was the factory replacement, you could get some sheetmetal screws and screw into the plastic base of the filter, but there are adapters for that, and specific filters too. Put the stock stuff back together to get to work, throw some pics up later, we'll be able to "engineer" things from there. good luck man

Yes you can get the sensor out of the plastic housing.
You will need a flathead screw driver. Just pry it apart.

The maf will have 4 bolts to it, so u can just bolt on the KN metal piece to the MAF, then put the filter on the metal piece. Then just use rubber hose connectors from the MAF to the TB.

ITs easy dude.

no what im saying is that the bottom of the the filter is metal, and how would u connect the filter to the maf sensor where the 4 bolts are suppose to go in? keep in mind its a k&n filter but its a replacement of factory, only thing diff is that its metal on bottom, maybe i am an idiot but im tryin

but there are no holes for nuts and bolts in filter? and if i try drilling in bottom i cant becaust the actual part that filters is in the way??? im strugglin here lol, well yea i am an idiot tho i cant even figure this out haha

use wood or sheetmetal screws. its not like its titanium that is used on a mega tank

I know they usually have a METAL part with 4 bolts in it!

Try unclamping that sucker and pull that thing offf!

ok im going to try to explain this as well as possible its a large cone shaped filter which is plastick on one end the little end(that has nothing to do with what im talking about) then widens out to other end, the bas of the other end is completlly flat and metal, there are no clamps or nothing like that i have never seen a filter liket this , i dont knwo if that explains it better????
