Help! Couldn't find the good writeup I printed (or thought I did) on how to do this install. So, I grabbed the Chiltons manual. :nonono:

It said to unbolt the LCA at the rear pivot point, NOTHING about unbolting shock or Quad shock. I've got the spring out, but the axle has moved back about 2"!

If I unbolt these two shock mounts, will that give me movement to get everything lined back up?

You shouldnt have to remove the quad shocks.

Did you Do them one at a time?

Did you put jack stands under the axle tubes before unbolting the control arms?

Even if you didnt, you should be able to get them back on, one at a time. You are gonna have to use a lot of muscle to get things to line up though, but it can be done.
A buddy to give you a hand will be a lot of help

Thanks. I went back out and got it.

Unbolted bottom shock mount and front quad shock mount on both sides, then took the springs out of both sides, put the rear LCA bolt back in, then put both springs in, and DONE. Piece of cake.

Bottom Line: Do the opposite of what Chiltons tells you! Once I had the axle floating pretty free (only the UCAs and one LCA were holding it in place) it was easy, and no problem at all doing both springs at the same time. No need to unbolt the LCAs at all!

SO, now the rear end is lowered, and I threw the TTIIs off my 67 on it to see what it looks like. I think they're actually going to clear! Not sure if I like it better than the Cobras or not. Definitely changes the look of the car!

Fronts tomorrow! Time to go to bed, the sun just went down (It's 11 pm). Alaska's awesome!!!

I always put a jackstand under the axle on BOTH ends of the axle before I disconnect a control arm. I don't remove any shocks at all. Putting the axle on jackstands means the axle doesn't move at all and the bolt holes still line up perfectly.
