Need Help Identifying Engine And Brakes Please

Fellas,

I finally took a few photos of my 92 LX. As far as I know the only mods at all are that BBK cai, tower power shifter, and 5 lug conversion. Previous owner says front brakes are off of 03/04 cobra. Rears off the same. I apologize for only having the limited photos I do. Just curious if you guys see anything I don't, or isnit all stock minus what I listed? Thanks for any help.

bone stock motor
front and rears look like stock SN95's to me. Rotors too small and calipers not looking like Cobra parts

Awesome. That's exactly what I figured, it was from an 01.5+ GT.... wheels probably came off the same car..... regardless. It's good to know Injectors, maf, and all appear to be stock.

Those lugs are incorrect for the car. Looks like they are using a washer. You'll want conical seat acorn lugs Those other lugs look like they can allow the wheel to shift a tad and that's how you snap lugs off

Since those are 2005+ wheels, check to make sure they are running the correct tires. Should be 245/45/17 for a typical 17x8 wheel on a Fox/SN95. You can adjust a bit from there depending on desired fit.

The 2005+ cars come with 235/55/17's which are tall in diameter and can cause a lot of rub

Damn good eye. I thought they were bullets from the 01.5 and up. But that's a a good eye. Which brings to another question I was going to post later. The rears have those 235/55/17 and I am good on the rear with clearance. The fronts however have 235/45/17 and they are rubbing something when wheel turned all the way.... I haven't had much drive time with the car because it won't pass inspection so I haven't looked to see if it was something else in suspension, but previous owner told me it's the tires. I need new tires anyway all the way around

Sometimes with the wider tires/wheels there will be rubbing on the control arms. There are steering rack limiters that can be installed to keep them from rubbing. Of course this "limits" your turn radius as well. I have this problem on my 87, my intent though is a bunch of suspension mods anyhow. I'm sure others here have addressed this issue and can offer more practical advise...

The issue with the 05+ wheels is they have a deeper offset than if those were Sn95 bullitt wheels. That means they sit deeper into the body of the car and if you look from an angle the wheels will have the illusion of being tucked in slightly.

The issue with this up front is that if the wheel is tucked in closer to the center of the car, the arc it sweeps thru while turning is smaller as well. This means you may have clearance issues with the rim hitting the control arms, or strut.

A spacer may be needed to push the wheels out a tad in order to give it more room to sweep through the arc, or, you can simply shop around for a different set of SN95 wheels to mount on the car, and then just sell those wheels.

Great info. Thanks. I do have a pair of 3/8" spacers I may have to try on there and see what it does. As far as tire size goes, if I keep these, what size do you recommend I put on? Thanks a ton.

On 17x8's, I'd try and run 245/45/17 all around.

If guys have issue with tirerub up front (usually pre-1991 cars), I usually recommend 235/45/17's up front. Your '92 should already have rack limiters on it

A friend of a friend has a set of fr500 for cheap with 255/40/17 all the way around.... but I think wheels are 17x9. No way the fronts fit without rubbing right? Think they were on a 95 gt.

94-95 vs 96-04 spindles, vs fox length and Sn95 length axles.

Up front? Going to depend highly on rim selection. That's a wide tire for front of a fox but I have seen it done

It's those fr500 17x9.... they were mounted on a 95 GT..... I guess I'll have to try them?
