Need help installing rear calliper

Well, it came off easy enough. Theres two lines that attatch to the rear calliper the upper is the brake line and I think the lower is the parking brake. The lower line is putting too much force on the calliper to get it back on. I've tried to pull on the line to relieve the tension but its not enough. How do I get this freakin thing back on??? Do I need to remove the lower line? If so how??? I've been at it for the last two hours and I've gotten to the "I quit" stage.

there is a tool you need to borrow or buy that turns the little piston back into it's housing... I did it w/ 3 vice grips, a Ginger Ale, and my dad standing there saying "you're doing it wrong, just take it to the shop" took me a good 30 min to get it where it needed to be... it turns very slowly...

Its not the piston thats keeping it from going on. Its the lower line thats connected to the calliper. Its pushing the calliper back away from the rotor. I took the pads out to see if the piston had relaxed but I still can't get the calliper on. I can get the upper bolt screwed in but I can't put enough pressure on the bottom of the calliper to get the lower bolt in. Its like 1/16th of an inch away. Theres gotta be an easier way of doing this.

that's odd... (sorry btw, I miss read the question) I have never had that problem w/ my brake replacement... my advice would be use some massive vice grips for the pressure needed to get the bolt going in, and everything should just align correctly... should being the key word...

I have never had this much trouble installing a calliper. This is ridiculous! I've pulled that cable as far forward as I can but its just not enough. That cable is forcing the bottom of the calliper out, somethings gotta be wrong.

well, I'm sure (no offense) it's just something stupid you didn't know you did, now what that is exactly, I dont' know... sorry... just come back to it in the morning w/ fresh eyes... you'll probably see it right off w/o any problem and learn something interesting for the next time you do brakes...

i've ran into your problem before. DO NOT remove that parking brake line. it is the near impossible to get on and off. you just have to really man handle the caliper.

and make sure your parking brake isn't set.

i dont' know if it matters or not but it would make sense that it wouldn't go on really well if it was set.

Like stated above, make sure the E-brake is not on. In fact, if memory serves, the e-brake cable should not be re-installed until after the caliper is all bolted up. After the caliper is mounted then take a vise grip and pull the cable into place.

Well I guess I just wasn't pushing hard enough, I finally got it.

I have always had great success with either kicking, hitting, or using hella big Vice Grips
