With the existing combination in my sig, I've gone 13.27 103.7mph with a 1.97 60ft. I'm rather concerned about the low MPH & I've come to the conclusion that it must be the cam. I originally picked it for going TT but I notched my pistons too deep & don't want to risk it, so I'll wait until this one blows up
Specs:
220 int @.050
226 exh @ .050
.510 lift with my 1.7 RR
It's on a 115 LSA
Steeda say this cam is meant for 94-95 cars with the picky computer & I think it's too tame for what I'm trying to do. Hell the sucker idles like it's stock IMO I'm in the hunt for low 12's high 11's NA now so 103/104mph won't cut it~!

I need a cam that can pass smog in MD (not nessicarily smog legal) but still give me great NA performance with a peak HP point of 6000 RPM. It'll get reved to about 6250, & I drive it everyday so it can't be too nasty. With the current cam it'll rev cleanly to that point but the HP/TQ seems to lay down right around 5500 rpm & honestly I want a cam that will make my car scare me

Cam lift shouldn't be a big deal(but I'd like to stay kinda low on the lift scale) I have enough clearence to run a .640 lift cam but the valve springs are only good to .575 (stock edels) & hopefully the one we come up with will work with those springs. As a side note I do have a F-cam but I've heard it's NA performance leave something
to be desired...

TIA
Mike

If you could find a Wolverine 1087 that is a nice OTS cam,, but bad thing is they don't make that cam anymore. Or the tried & trued Lunati 10114(thinh that is the grind), but has lift around 500/510 range.. Comp Cams also make's some good OTS cams in their XE grinds..

You know what the specs on the wolverine or Lunati cams?
I was thinking of the XE274HR-14(114 LSA) or the XE274HR-12 (112LSA),
but i'm not really sure if they would make thier peak power where I want it,
besides the LSA /Lift the 274 HR is pretty similar spec wise to my steeda

Thanks Mike

Don't remember everything, but the W-1087 was around mid 22x's and low 23x's on the duration and the lift was like .510/.534. The Lunati cam was close to the same on the duration but the lift numbers were .500/.510.. As far as the LSA's I want to say they were around the 112 or 114 mark, but not quite sure. ...

I have the XE274 cam. its really nice. If you looking for something cheap, the FMS cams are decent. They might be better than what you have too. The F cam will be nice with your set up in my opinion.
Go for the 274 cam, but if you can get a cheap FMS cam, i would go with that.

Thanks for the info Mike, I'll try to dig up more info on that Lunati...

N8Miller... I have a F-cam in my possetion as it is, & the XE274HR seems
like a good bet too the 112 or 114 LSA I'm not sure of though. Worst case
I'll sell the F-cam & the Steeda to pay for the Comp or Lunati... just need some help deciding on one

Well, since you have the F cam, why not give it a shot.

If you decide the sell the F cam (PM me, i think that i might know someone who wants it)

Well to be honest a couple reasons I don't want to rip the eingine apart more than I have to, plus i'm not allowed to do this kinda thing much. Wifes got a real hard on about working on the car too much

I'll let you know what I decide on the cam, I may end up getting rid of it,
i'm not sure yet...I'm going over a bunch of diffrent cams to compare specs & narrow things down a bit.

5.0 Mustang and Super Fords magazine did a build on a CHP 347 10:1 with AFR185s, RPMII, 30lbers etc with the XE266HR (216/224@.050 .544/.555 112*) and the motor made good power from 1600-6000......flywheel HP 431-5600; TQ 426-4100 ....... not bad!!

With the 274 grind it made roughly 20 more hp/tq

That engine would run your Fox in the 12s on street tires!!

Well I talked to Ed about he he told me to go with a smaller intake & the cam I have
now was all wrong NA or Turbo wise. He basically recomended I buy two cams from him, even though he offered a good deal I just don't want to buy a cam for each purpose.

From what I have so far the following cams look the best
XE270Hr-14 218-224 .510 lift w 1.6 (i have 1.7's) 114LSA
F-303 226-226 .510 lift w 1.6 114 LSA
Crane449651 226-232 .544/.559 lift w 1.7's 114LSA
Lunati51025 224-232 .535/.544 w 1.6's on a 110LSA

Any opinions on these cams guys? Which would you pick if it was your car
based on the info I've given you?

Thanks Again!
Mike

Well I think the F-cam is going in for now, & the intake thing will wait... I gotta know if this Steeda is the problem before I start swapping intakes.

If it wakes up as much as I expect it to I may try & spring for the XE270HR-14 just to see what happens...

Any other opinions on this??
Thanks
Mike
