umm yea title says it all, this puppies are on a spare head so ther is no oil on it, and these are hell to try to pull out, any advise on getting them out or am I just gonna have to sit here with liquid wrench.mystery oil, and any other thin lubricant?
They should normally just slide out. If they are gummed up you may have to work them out. Try some carb cleaner or something to break the varnish.
And on the odd chance that this is a used head you bought make sure it doesnt have set screws holding the stabilizers in. Racer Walsh uses those on their high lift solid lifter stabilizers.
lube, then take a paper towl wrap the end of a pair of pliers , grip, turn them side to side and they will loosen up (ya, make sure they are not solid's, with the mounting screw!)
yea they aren't solid, they are lifters from a 87TC, I doing this in effort to save my swapped 2.3T. I changed out the computer hoping that would solve some problems, and the motor seems to run fine with the exception of the tapping from the head and the rev limit of 3500rpm. so I', putting back the stock TC cam and followers , cuz i was reading that the slider springs can't support the PSI of the RR cam.
