Ok heres the problem. My clutch gets hard to push in when the engine and transmission warms up, also there is a popping sound. For the love of God someone plz help me figure this out so i can fix it. I recently replaced the cable (yes its routed correctly) and put a firewall adjust on it. The previous owner had already installed an aluminum quadrant. Now I had someone push the clutch in after i got the car nice and hot and the popping is definately internal. It is not the cable/or the firewall/or the quadrant. So my pea brain thinking is the clutch itself or the flywheel or throwout bearing or the clutch fork. I would like to pinpoint the problem b4 i get into all the removing of the driveshaft, tranny, exhaust not nessesarily in that order. Could my flywheel be warped? Can a clutch fork go bad? Oh yeah and b4 yall ask yes it did this b4 the new cable and firewall adjuster. Plz Help Me. I beg of you. On my hands and knees.

A bad throwout bearing could cause a popping noise. But it could be many things. Probably not the flywheel. Hard to say what it is without looking at the car.

Get the car up on jackstands. Take the inspection cover off of the bellhousing by the clutch fork (if it is still on). Have someone step on the clutch while you watch the cable, fork and pressure plate.

Whether it is the bearing or the clutch, the same parts have to come out to change it anyway...

Thanks for your help. I have done exactly what you said too, but i cant really identify the problem other than its internal. I guess my reason for asking is because the clutch works perfectly so i dont want to replace the wrong item and i am on a very tight budget. I realize that it makes since to go ahead and replace everything while i'm in their but this is just not feasable (financially) for me right now. Anybody else. HISSIN you've always got something to say did someone tape your hands to your keyboard? Chime in one, chime in all. Even if it is just to make fun of me.

hmm check the clutch cable quadrant under the driver side dashboard., check the clutch fork maybe worn and is bending or flexing when you depress the clutch. have some depress the clutch while your under the car and observethe cable and fork as it moves (turn car off and remove cable cover on bellhousing). like stated before check TOB and pilot bearing, maybe one of the tines on the pressure plate is broken. good luck

When cold the clutch is as smooth as butter. It is only after it heats up that the clutch gets hard to push in and starts popping. I do notice if i shift w/ the rpms a bit high (as in keeping the throttle pressed down a little and shifting at about 3100rpm or so) the popping noise does not occur. But it is still hard to press the clutch in. thanks for the help.

Sounds like it could be a bad Pressure Plate.

The reason I say this is because you state that it gets harder to push when it gets warm.

If it was a bad clutch fork it should do it all the time. A bad TOB, I would assume, would do it all the time as well.

When you put the clutch in did you torque down the PP evenly and use loctite on the PP bolts?

Could it be possible that the PP fingers got damaged when putting the tranny back in?
