need help with 1967 Stang

hey all, my friend has a '67 we are breathing new life into. my question is this...how hard would it be to take the front suspension out of my '86 GT and swap into his car? his front end really needs rebuilding and i have heard that the front ends out of newer cars have benefits over those in the older ones. so, how much fabrication does it take and is it worth it?

i dont really know much about the later model stangs, but i'm sure all the fabrication involved to make it fit on a vintage mustang wouldnt be worth it (or possible). the vintage suspension setup is quite capable of making the car handle really well. just get all new replacement parts and bushings, maybe box in the control arms, and drop them an inch (shelby drop). i've done this and the car handles great! and i saved alot of money and time!

You can rebuild the stock suspension and it will handle as good or better than the fox stuff. Having said that I think there is a way to do what you are asking about. I am sure others will be able to help you out. You can also try a search as I recall this has been discussed before.

I agree there is so many parts avalible for the early mustangs, I would drop it for sure i did mine in the front and left the back normal looks and rides great, I have the entire front end redone with better than stock parts but I have never taken it out on the track, but from what i have read they handle great with the after market parts.

A huge amount and.....no.

Mustangs 1979 and later have McPhearson strut front suspension with an entirely different unibody structure to accomodate it. 1965-73 Mustangs have coil springs with shocks and upper and lower control arms. It would be cheaper and certainly easier to rebuild the '67 suspension with upgrade parts for early Mustangs.
