ok i installed a c&L plenum last week along with a ford racing tb it came with tps so i didnt mess with it intill a week later cause it always idled at 1500. but i was told it need volts of .97 so i started messing with it then i broke it so i bought a new one. i just installed it today and i cant get the volts below 1 its at 1.01 it wont go any lower is it possible i got the wrong one for my engine? do any of the 99-04 engines have different tps's? the idle is still bad it stays at 1400 now but i did some driving and it has inproved but still idles at 1400 just now it seems to drop to 1000 after a lil wile. i dont know what happening or how to fix this anyone know? also how do you set the tps to .97 when its pulled out a lil its at 95 but as soon as i start tighting the screws it goes above 1 and wont go down and went as high as 1.35v. could i have a defective tps? also i pulled the codes and this one came up whats this mean??

Tightening the screws on the TPS can be enough to throw it off, it is very touchy. Perhaps if you keep trying and are very careful you will get it...

Also, people usually report high idle after TB install which falls off after a while.

You reset the PCM after TB install right?

ok it wont go below 1.083 volts its getting verry anoying. does it need a gasket? cause when its like 1 mm out i get the reading i want but as soon as it gets pushed in that lil amount it jumps to 1.083 and wont go down. coult this tps be bad? or do i need a special tps for the ford racing tb's??? cause i can not get it below that unless its 1mm out then it will move easly cause the screws are not tight. do you mean make the tps screw whole bigger or tb? is there supposed to be a gasket

I had the same issue... We fixed this by drilling out the metal washers in the TPS... That gave us just the amount of adjustment needed to get my sensor to read .92 at idle... Car runs fine now..

ok im getting ****king pissed off at my dam car. it revs to 3000 and wont drop it stays there no matter what the tps says how do i fix this why is it doing this????????? its getting really ANOYING that its reving so high and not doing anything. the tps wont go below 1.02 volts and im starting to get so madd. what am i doing wrong why wont it drop i drilled the washers out and still wont drop. is its my stupid Throttle messed up somehow its 70mm Ford racing tb... why is this happening to me!!!! i cant even drive my car!!!

Take a break and regroup... Seriously... Maybe even sleep on it if you can wait until tomorrow to fix it. As you wait, more and more people will reply to this thread with troubleshooting suggestions.

Take a break, have a beer. You will get this fixed.

ive been messing with this all day i just dont know why or what would cause the idle to jump straight to 3000 rpms. i had a programer on it and restored the original cpu to it before i replaced the tps. i think there multiple tps's and i got the wrong one but now that i drilled it its non exchange able. i bet this tps is for a earlyer mustang or a newer one and not my 2000. i wish my car would idle back at 1400 now cause 3000 is way way to much. and the trottle bodys not even open and its revving so high. i bet thats messing my engine up because its not getting the correct amount of air it thinks its getting.

ok just fixed it i had reset the computer. for some reason it was tweaking. well the lowest i got the tps to is 1.01 which seems to be running fine. the car runs good now no problem like before but i guess it will get better in a week from what i hear. but it idles at 800 and stays at 1000 for like 2 secs so its a big improvement. thanks
