Does anyone know if you can tune a 89 2.3L Mustang LX with a laptop? If so, what all do I need to buy? I mean, I've done this before with a fuel injected Porsche so I am familiar with the procedure just not the specifics on this car. I assume that I need a connector for the under hood plugin, a laptop(obviously), and the software. What I need to know is where to get the plug and the software for this car. I have looked a little and had no luck whatsoever. I certainly can't be the only one wanting to do this considering how popular this motor is. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much...//peter

Erm...

You can't do any "tuning" on the stock computer with a laptop. You have to have some kind of aftermarket standalone system.

I'm not trying to poke fun or anything, but you can't really compare a Porsche to a Fox 4 cylinder Mustang.

The http://www.moates.net J3 tuner is the only sub-$100 option I know of. I'm not sure if it's compatible with the 2.3 NA EEC, though.

This was talked about several weeks ago. The general concensus was that unless the engine is going to be fairly radical, it's not really worth the trouble of tuning the EEC to the nth degree.

OK guys, I missunderstood

I was under the impresion that the ECU in the mustang was "tunable" to the point that certain ignition/timing/injection parameters were adjustable via aftermarket software and a laptop much like my megasquirt system on the Porsche. Obviously I didn't think it was "as configurable" as the megasquirt but I did think that some things were adjustable right from Ford by going that route. Again, i apologize for the ignorance. //drum

I wasn't trying to come off as condescending, there's no need to apologize. I was merely commenting.

There is no system available to tune 2.3 n/a ecu's, there are a couple different methods to tune the 2.3 Turbo ecu's.
