ok i got my 331 stroker alive and running. i need to find a suitable maf for this combo. the car came with a "cobra" maf according to the previous owner. i have no real way of substantiating this. all i do know is the housing measures 70mm but i cant find any numbers on it. the maf sensor and housing are marked across them w/paint pen like they came off of the same car together (prob junkyard stuff) the numbers on the sensor are this:
f4sf-12b579-aa
afh70-02a
so here is my question-is there any way of knowing if the housing is for 19 or 24lb injectors? and if it is for 24lb, what would be a good sensor for this (my current sensor failed today)? if the housing is for 19lb'ers what is a good housing/sensor combo for this w/out breaking the bank?

thanks for the info guys, i am learning ford stuff as i go (was born a chevy guy)

Looks like a t-bird MAF doesn't it? If so, it should not be optimal for the A9* EEC.

No OEM MAF is calibrated for a given injector. The MAF and EEC need to be in synch. The MAF just relates a voltage per volume of air flow. The EEC handles the rest. The calibration aspect comes from aftermarket meters that trick the EEC.

The 93 Cobra had its own MAF.

94-95 cars all use the same MAF (again, the EEC is what handled fuel delivery, whether the car had 19's or 24's).

If you use an A9* EEC with 19's, get a 94-95 Stang MAF. They're cheap and it will outflow the injectors.

Good luck.

Unless you have a 93 Cobra EEC, you would need an aftermarket MAF or the ability to tune the EEC or MAF.

That's not even the part number for a Cobra MAF. I think it's a 4.6L MAF.

These are the only MAF's known to work with the stock Fox Computer and 19# injectors

1995-94 Mustang 3.8L F2VF-12B579-A2A,
1994-92 Crown Victoria 4.6L F2VF-12B579-A2A,
1995-94 Mustang GT & Mustang Cobra 5.0L F2VF-12B579-A2A,
1994-92 Town Car 4.6L F2VF-12B579-A2A,
1994-92 Grand Marquis 4.6L F2VF-12B579-A2A,

So you should either go aftermarket, or use one of these MAF's and get a chip burned....the later is actually the prefered method by most

That is a 93 Cobra MAF (or rather it is a meter that superseded the 93 Cobra part number)
Now that you have the right meter though... you could sell that one off...

The previous owner was honest, even if he did build a mismatched car

The 1993 Cobra MAF p/n is F1SZ-12B579-A

His MAF's p/n is F4SF-12B579-AA which is a 1994-1995 4.6L Thunderbird MAF
