pull the #1 plug, stick you finger in it, rotate motor till you feel compression, then a little farther(til poston reaches TDC), pointer should lined up with the 0 on balancer. Then pull the dis. cap off, rotor should point at 1.

if balancer doesnt line up, balancer is bad (rubber cam loose)

if rotor isnt pointing at #1, your 180deg. off. pull dis. then instal with rotor just a hair in front of the #1.

let me know what happens.

the circle is NOT the place you time it at. You time it at the "right"
most edge of the timing pointer! This could be the complete cause of your problem..

Thanks I did not know that. I wondered why it was a circle. It's about 1' past the edge of the pointer.

Yep. And in that little 1" difference is about 30 degress or so of timing difference, which could wreak havoc on your engine's operation.

Man it's always the little things lol. Yep I looked down there again- I didn't even see the other end of it before. I thought it was odd that it had a circle but I had never set the timing on it before. It was dead on 10* right where it was supposed to be. Guess at least I was pretty good setting it by ear lol. Thanks guys. Time to go break something else!
