Hey guys,

New to the boards. Lurk and get information once and awile. I just picked up a GT and am looking to add an X-Pipe soon. I was wondering what would my cheapest route be? One that would bolt in and one I assume I would have to have welded in? Correct me if Im wrong cause my last exhaust the shop bent all the pipes and stuff/welded in the mufflers but I Know online u can buy kits you can install yourself that just bolt in. If there are cheaper X-pipe variants I could have welded in.

And after cheapest whats best all around I really dont wanna spend 200+ for just a mid pipe.. but its lookin like I may have to.

Thanks.

You don't weld in a midpipe. You weld one together if you want, but it's not sensible to weld parts of the exhaust in to one like that.

Anyways, there are dozens of options, from the Pypes X pipe Jegs or brenspeed sells all the way up to the Dr. Gas or Bassani. All have a distinct sound, all are worth some torque gain on the dyno.

They are easy to install with a few hours work and the right tools. Dropping the stock pipe the first time is the hardest time you'll have. Nothing some PB blaster and quality tools can't fix.

UPR is nice and affordable. Its around $160 for one with no cats and is a quality peice.

Id reccomend doing it yourself.

I agree with the UPR. Very inexpensive, but the quality is good.
BBK also makes a pretty inexpensive x-pipe, but they are more of a "clam shell" design, like Bassani.

BBK - Notice that there is more of a "chamber" type crossover.

UPR - Notice the more strait/direct crossover.

+3 for UPR. I have one and it is a great piece. Had it for about 2 Years and no problems. As the others said it is inexpensive and the fit and finish on it is top notch.

Also, all kits come with bolts for you to bolt right up. No welding is required.
