The tires on my 17X9's are dry rotting pretty bad. I need to replace them, but am awed by all the different brands that are out now. I WANT Drag Radials for the back, but may not be able to afford them. What are some good tires to go with. I need something kinda soft in the rear, the hard ass tires I have have no traction at all. The tires that are on it now are all 275/40's and rub in the front so I'll be changing those to 245/45/17's.

IMO tires really require a lot of trial and error since it is a lot of personal preference. For example, my dad swears by Goodyears and I hate them. I used to be a BFgoodrich man and am now converted to Bridgestone tires.

For DR's though you have a limited selection of brands:

BFgoodrich
Mickey Thompson
Nitto

Since I haven't used any of them, I'll let the guys that have speak to their treadlife, adhesion and noise levels

For street tires, I used to run BGF Comp T/A's (now known as G-force tires) but they were always very noisey in the cabin. To be fair, I haven't tried the new G-force name plates and I should add that BFG is owned by Michellin tires now so they might have changed.

If you need an all weather tire, the GSC from goodyear was recently ranked #1 by Motortrend for Dry / Wet weather handling.

There was a new tire released by Bridgestone recently. I think they call it the S-01 or something. It looks like a great tire, but they don't make any in the 15" tire size (stinking turbines!)

I run BFG G-Force Sports in those sizes... I hear NO tire noise... Most noise comes from mis-alignment which causes uneven wear and feathering of the tires (choppiness), esspecially since you cannot rotate them. They grip real good and if you get them from Discount Tire Company (a store, not online), you get a 50000 mile warranty.
