a friend of mine is looking at this car that he found and asked me how much he should pay for it. I dont know squat about 94-5's.I prefer fox cars. anyway if I am in violation of TOS please remove this thread.
the asking price on the ad is 4500. here is the description. that came with it. is 4500 fair or should I tell him to negotiate?

I'm selling this gt droptop for a friend. There are not many left in this condition. It has a little over 70k miles, and it shows. It has been taken care of well. There are only a few tasteful modifications: windsor sr heads, 1.6 roller rockers, bbk ssi intake w/70mm throttle body, cold air intake, 3:73 gears, and a cobra hood. The A/C is ice cold. The car drives great and has awesome power. It has gray leather, but the lower part of the drivers seat needs to be recovered for the interior to be perfect.

It looks pretty good, not sure about 4500 good. I have definitely seen cleaner for less. That torn drivers seat would detour me from paying that much. Just a big eye sore i guess. The air dam in the front hanging down would definitely have me asking questions and looking under the front end. It also appears to have some sag in the rear suspension. The rest of the car looks pretty good though.

blue book says fair condition is 3700. I was thinking about telling him to offer that and walk away to let the guy stew on it. if he wants the car gone he will eat the difference.

The sag could simply be installing the rear springs wrong. The bottom of the car has been completely painted - this could be nice, or it could be covering rust. As for the Windsor Sr heads, I'm not sure how to identify a set of those installed on an engine. That would be worth checking out. Also check if he has a custom tune - if not, that engine is likely to run pretty bad with those heads and cam.

Curious why the seat's trashed like that with that low of miles? Also, the underside repaint makes me suspicious. Other than that, the price is better than what I paid for mine, but that's got something to do with my location (and I had less miles on a very pristine car). If the seat checks out, and a thorough inspection indicates no rust, no suspension, engine or driveability problems, I'd say negotiate the best price he can, but it seems pretty fair to me (not knowing your local market conditions).

yeah they look like the stock pos headers. the car is parked outside of an mechanic shop. this guy always has cars for sale out there. Im pretty sure he pulls the cars in at night, puts a shine on em and throws a sale sign in the window.

Painting the undercarriage isn't necessarily a bad thing. I did it on mine BEFORE it rusted out. Check the history on it, but I don't think Florida is known for rusty cars, is it?

It looks good to me. I paid that much for mine, but this was about 5 years ago. It did have 128k miles on it. The asking price is never what they expect to get, so haggling is the name of the game.

well, like I told the guy that wants to buy it, from the responses I got yesterday start at 36-3700 and dont go over 4000. he has a 5k budget and I told him he is going to want to save at least a couple hundred for TTT and another 200 for all the misc little items that pop up when you buy a used car. seeing as this car does have perf parts on it, it has likely been beat on and will need some immediate attention to be a decent daily. thats just my opinion

think it has the stock cam. I personally havent looked at the car yet. that intake is IMHO a piece of garbage. if it works the way its supposed to the guy that installed it deserves a steak dinner. I would never run one on my car.

Wow, I thought I did OK on my '94 at $4.8K. My car had 81K miles, but drivers seat had no splits. Mine was also bone stock excepting the radio. Someone has thrown some money at this.
