Hello,

Usually in the 5.0 environment ... today I need your opinions.

Looking at buying a '93 LX Hatch/Auto and with the 2.3 --- car is in very good condition overall @ 107k. Needs very minor items addressed.

What specifically mechanically should I be looking for, any tips?

Can get it for $1000

as long as it runs like a top and shifts smooth, i'd say go for it. i dont know what specifics you're looking for but it'd definatly help you when it came to buying gas... unlike your many 5.0's and such.

Only thing to really watch out for would be burnt or discolored transmission fluid. The A4LD automatics have a way of overheating. If you get it, I would put an aftermarket tranny cooler on it.

Runs pretty well, no 5.0 power there ... hah!

Clean car, clean fluids, good rubber throughout and the tires, shifts nice (firm), A/C duct shifts location when accelerating (vacuum leak?), needs belt tensioner pulley, need to sweeten the exhaust and maybe go aftermarket breather(what do you think?) and needs a radio.

Looking for a Fox Body with fuel mileage as a definite concern - - - 60 miles daily for work, aargh!

I would check to see if there's any signs of the tranny leaking from the front pump seal. That's a common problem with the automatics.
