Need rear sticky tires

Ive got a line lock ordered and now i want to get 2 sticky tires for my old rims to take to the track
what I want to do is put the old rims on, drive to the track, drag, then drive home and remove them. So something that can be driven to the track about 50 miles. Dont want pure slick either cause I dont want to kill my transmission or rear end, I was thinking something like Nitto drag radials
what do you think? they are relatively cheap and I hear they last long.
17 inch rim btw

If you're using DRs or slicks, you should budget in a new diff and axles. The stockers will be on borrowed time under that strain.

I say this from experience after bending a stock axle with nothing but some nitto DRs on stock rims.

I hear great things about Mickey T radials. Low on tread life, but I don't think thats big of a deal for your application.

Motortrend used this tire in a comparo with some tuner cars with more then 1000hp(henessey and linenfelter cars). Its supposed to be good. Plus it would drive nice on the 50 mile drive u have to the track.

I like my BFG Gforce tires I have right now. Super tires
Red........how do the Gforce hook up at the track......I have them on my new rims but not been to the track....they gotta be better than the Cooper Zeons.....

how long did you drive with them before it bent? It wasn't like 1 or 2 passes was it?

I didn't even run the car at the track. This is just from daily driving and launching like a jack*** at a redlight because someone in one of those Mercury Marauder's (sp?) with flows on it felt like revving at me like a tough guy.

It's true, I'm an idiot. I immediately switched to Pirelli's before my current setup on my new rims.
