now you really sound like me.

anyways, don't waste your money on stock unless it is warranty, here's a link.
you basically get your motor with better stuff, now you can cam it without needing to notch your pistons.
http://www.dssracing.com/46longblocks.html

ok, so here's some ideas, you can get the whole longblock etc, for like 6grand, or you could get the shortblock (forged steel crank, 4340 h-beam rods, custom flat top forged pistons, etc) for like 3 grand and spend the rest of the money on porting the heads, intake, getting a cam, or whatever.

I get so excited when I hear new engine.

I'm curious -- how exactly did the dealer determine what the problem is? Did they tear it down?

I am not quite sure how they determined that... I called Brad's to get a quote on replacing the engine and the guy at Brad's said they put something down somewhere and it checks....

Alright, the car was running just fine on my way to work. I went to go get my boss some lunch and drove back to the office and the car is still running fine. Then I take off, to go get myself some lunch. I get almost to Burger King and the car starts ticking. So, I let off the gas and the ticking goes away. Well I get back to the office and take a quick look at the car. There are no check engine lights on at all. So, I rev the car up in the parking lot....the higher the RPM's get the faster the ticking goes. Let off the gas and there is no ticking. I open the door to hear if it might be the side exhaust.....nothing there....but, could definitely tell it's coming from the engine compartment. I didn't have time to lift the hood and check it all out. So basic break down:

- No Check Engine lights
- Loud ticking
- Ticking speed increases with higher RPM's
- No ticking at idle
- Definitely somewhere in the engine compartment

Any suggestions would be much appreciated (the obvious suggestion of scraping the car is a serious consideration)???

It sounds like the 4th Cylinder wrist pin is undone....and it has warped the cylinder.

So in essence, you would pay 6,750 to fix all that....and that does not include the new engine.
