hey guys got a question i know yall can answer. i am new to this forum, moved from modulardepot, they never would give me and advice, help. but whatever i help yall will help me. i have a 05 gt and i am looking into putting some cam in this beast. i called bbr and comp, bbr recommend their stage 1's and comp recc. their stage 2's NSR. bbr said prolly 15rwhp, and comp said 30rwhp with those cams. do yall think these are realistic numbers. car only has JLT CAI, off road x, magna packs. i will be installing jba shorties, gt500TB, these cams, upgrade the coils, get it all dailed in on the dyno. what do u guys think, and advice, reccomendations, any help would be great. :SNSign:

comp seems to be good cams for our cars. i am not so into the BBRs, except for the sound. comp has been around for a long time, and have quite the selection available for the 3V engine.

im not sure on power numbers, but the dyno collection may have a sheet or two on them.

I suggest Comp too. I have BBR stage 2's with lockouts and they run real nice, but Comp grinds their cams for them.

Cams add power depending on supporting mods.
On a otherwise stock engine some stage 2 cams you will probably see around 15-20 hp.
Now with supporting mods (headers, intake, p&p heads, stronger springs or oversize valves)
you could see gains around 40-60 hp.

Welcome; here's my advice.

Cams w/o springs are junk b/c granted they dont have the lift, but the duration adds to the stress/weakening of the springs, plus, the added rpm where the power made weakens springs and oem valvetrain isnt ment to rev. very high

Buy a good set of pnp built heads, the valvetrain alone is worth the money b/c of safety to rev., and added longevity.

Cams, no reason to get anything but comp spr stage II or III's, you'll get the lope you want w/ performance... pseudo lope is a waste of time/money.

Shorty headers are a waste of money; oem's flow good enough, until you can get Long tubes, just wait.

magnapacks are junk, if thats what your heart is set on, go to Auto Zone and pick up a set of glass packs, 50$ for the pair, and FYI... Magnapacks made me loose 2 tenths and 2mph in the 1/4; these little motors NEED backpressure.

tb is more of a cosmetic thing, I only gained 5 hp w/ my set up, so... if you take the $ you were going to waste on tb, magnapacks, and shortys... alomost have what you need for heads and good cams atta boy, see, I knew you were listening

You will see a good 30 HP with that cam. Also, it depends on what else you plan on doing to it, the cams I put on added over 60 RWHP because of the blower. Once I add boost, the cams will make even more of a difference.
