i went and looked at a 4.6 that i wasnt necessarly too interested in. the pics it looked chipped around the fenders, paint swirls, ect. i looked at it, drove it, ect yesterday. however they wouldnt take my offer for it. im going to try meeting them midway on the price.

that would be 9500 out the door, 2000 gt, black/black leather int, mach 460, manual, 82k miles.

i took my cousin with me who is familiar with mustangs and he went and looked over everything i couldnt with the salesman on me. what all should i check specifically? if they accept my offer, and my car sells im going to go buy this car, so i want to see if there is anything i missed.

runs good, strong oil pressure, no smoking, shifts good, no weird engine noise, smooth power, no hesistation or anything. looked under the car, no leaks, stock besides a k&n. the hood latch isint catching the hood right, so they had to take it down and spray it with wd40 or some type of lubricant for it to catch and hold the hood shut  other then that, it doesnt have anything that needs fixed.

opinions? any input? i want to make sure i go through this car thoroughly since its all my money and im selling my baby to get it. thanks

When I bought mine, I pulled a car fax report and I also took it to a local shop that specializes in prepurchase inspections. If I remember right the car fax was twentyfive bucks and the inspection was an additional seventy bucks. Some may say this was a waste of money, however it did tell me how many owners the car had and what area of the country it was driven in. You should also be able to determine if the car has ever been wrecked. You might see if the dealer will tell you how to contact the previous owner. Good Luck

You may want to see if you can get the previous owner's name or number and contact them about the car just to see if they had any trouble with it and why they decided to get rid of it..

That's what I did and it paid off :D He told me everything about the car, good and bad, it was no weight on his shoulders so he didnt mind.. He actually appreciated knowing that somebody had a lot of interest in the car

i may try that or a carfax. they had the thing where it said get a free carfax on their listing for it. then i looked and it said, found 17 files or something, and i had to pay to view from there.

 not familiar with carfax. is 17 files average or could it go either way?

just so ya know, the oil pressure guages on these cars are not actually functioning guages, more like a glorified idiot light. you either have oil pressure or you dont.
