Well, I'm in the market for a new radiator. I did some searching on here but I think I just gave myself more of a headache. I live in southeast GA where it gets HOT in the summer. I rebuilt my motor last year and didn't have enough money to get a new radiator so I had my stock one redone. Well, it hasn't cooled right since then. If I sit at a traffic light or in traffic I watch the temp climb to 210 or higher. I'm running a 180 tstat and an electric fan. So what aluminum radiators do you guys recommend? And it really needs to be under $300 or even around $250 (I know, I'm asking a lot, I hate being poor, ha). Also, I'd like to be as direct-fit as possible (universal will work if its not too much trouble to get in) Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

i bought one of these a couple of months back and i have been very pleased with it. works like a charm and looks great. best of all it will keep with any mods i make in the future. it's a direct fit replacement also.

The cooling system's hardest job is trying to keep the motor cool while you sit in traffic. This is when the radiator relies on the fan to get all of the required air flow across the fins of the radiator to dissapate the heat. A lack of air flow maybe why your car is overheating at idle or low speed conditions.

Do you have a cobra insert in the nose? How are you controlling the fan? Are you using U/D pullies?

I've had a Summit brand aluminum radiator for a couple years, works really good. Had to modify the mounting brackets a little but thats the only work required to install

I had a cooling problem after the supercharger and was running about 220-230*. I put in an Afco and has dropped the temps to 190*. Im still running a mechanical fan and cut the shroud in half to fit the 12 rib setup. Its not a direct fit but their quality is top notch. I paid around $220 and worth every penny.

I don't have a Cobra insert, I've got the fan running on the adjustable thermostat but in the summer I normally use a switch that I turn on at 180 or so, and I don't have underdrive pullies.

Sweet88gt, which afco are you using? I saw one of theirs for 87-93 mustangs from them, but it was $450.

Its a double row of 1 inch fins. It works great, but like I said its not a direct fit. I bought it from Ideal Transmissions out of Texas. When I find there card Ill give you the info. If I can get the camera to work my friend has bought one also and I have it here at the house Ill shoot some pics.
