Im looking at going with 275/40/17's all away around, but i thought i would ask if anybody else is doing this on their stock bullitts. My car has been dropped with h&r supersports, so i was also wondering if there were any clearance problems in the front at all. Im not sure what tires i want to go with, i was leaning towards the nitto 555zr's, but if there are any other brands you guys recommend i wouldnt be opposed to check them out. Im a semi-aggressive driver, and do see the track every now and then, so i need a tire that will hold its own at the track......road course, not drag and still last awhile for the street. Also if there are any suggestions on where to get these tires as cheap as possible. Thanks in advance.

I've been told by local tire dealers that they would NOT recommend going any wider than a 255/45/17 on a 17x8 wheel. On the other hand, there are several members here that say they've done it (275/40's) with no problems. i do NOT think that these members are autocrossing their cars though with this size tire on stock wheels. The issue is with sidewall stress/handling performance. If you are gonna autocross, then I'd say stay with 245's or 255's unless you go with a 17x9 wheel.

As for fitment after lowering the car, I'd guess you'd be okay. But you never mentioned how much of a drop you went with. I have 1.5" drop all the way around and run 275/40's up front and 315/35's out back with ZERO clearance problems. I could easily drop another 1/2 to 3/4" without concern of clearance.

Also, you might experience some inside rubbing with the front tires at near or full turn when going with tires wider than the 255's.

Thanks for the reply's guys. i thought about the 275's being to big for autocrossing, im glad you mentioned it. i will probably go with the stock 245's or maybe 255 in the front, and go with the 275's in back. anybody know of a place to pick up tires as cheap as possible . Any help would be greatly appreciated.
