Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and was wondering what you guys thought about this motor I'm looking at.

Some info on the car it's a 94 GT coupe and has the following stuff done to it.

Performer intake
BBk 70mm TB
BBK cold air
BBK shorty headers
BBK or x-pipe
Flows
Rebuilt t-5 with wc internals
FRPP alum. driveshaft
FRPP 373 gears.

Is there anything else I should look at getting if I get this motor? Also what kind of power and times should I be looking at?? Thanks for your help, Jason D.

1.) Welcome to StangNet!

2.) The search function on here is your BEST friend.

3.) That engine is WAY overpriced.

4.) If you replace your heads, cam, & intake .... you can make MORE power than that thing .... for WAY less $$$. Or you can build a complete engine with MUCH more power for that cost or even less.

Sorry but I did do a search and couldn't find much. I can get that out the door for 3500 with a 1yr/12k warr. I need a new block as my current one has a crack in it.

You could look at DSS and CHP long blocks and be miles ahead on performance for the buck. There is nothing wrong with the FRPP engine you are looking at its just a little over priced compared to other suppliers for the same or more performance. You being in MI should be able to find a local engine builder farely easily.

Well I was looking at these.

How would these work with a set of the alum gt-40 heads? I can get as set of those for 650 complete?

Also I'm not sure on what else I would need for these short blocks?? Sorry but I'm new to this whole motor thing,LOL

Out of those 2, IMO, D.S.S. is the best.



GT40's are not enough for a stroker. You'll need something like AFR or TFS 185's or better. Can get expensive going this route.

If you can get that good of a deal on the aluminum GT40 heads then get them. They are much better than cast iron GT40s and your stock cast iron E7TE heads. FRPP even recommends GT40 Y303 heads for 351w engines in their catalog. However, if you can swing it save up for some better flowing heads. Maybe it would help if we know what your overall goal and budget is for you car.

Well I'm mainly looking for A very nice street car that will see the track a couple times a month. Looking to get around 350hp with a good amount of tq. My budget for everything is max 4k but would like to stay under that as much as I can.

Would like to try for wheels but that means about 400 at fly right??

350 Wheel not likely on any rendition of a GT40 head without serious port work...then you might as well have gone AFR/edelbrock/Canfield etc.

300 at the wheels is very achieveable with a stock short block and good H/C/I. Thats about 345-350 crank and good for high 12's.

Take a look at the sticky on proven combos. Lots of good stuff there. Remember with a stroker you will need alot of extras that will eat into your budget.

Personally.........a near stock short block 302 with good H/C/I will achieve your stated desires, and be very reliable.
