I recently purchased a new 04 cobra, Excellent car besides all the complaints about the clutch and the rattling, but i love that stuff...

I used to own a 98 cobra so I am familiar with the racing capabilities of the car. So I attempted to give the 04 an open-up-er and launch. The rear suspention cannot hold the car down, it rattles and cannot give the motor its full potential. Even in top end second gear as well... Any suggestions????

Also, the shift light at 2.2 rpm???
and the annoying seat belt alert....

Any helps??? Suggestions???

All Mustangs rattle when it's cold out.

I'm assuming you're talking about wheel hop? Cold weather makes this problem worse. There are a few things you can do to help combat it. Stiffer shocks, poly IRS bushings, stickier tires, etc.

I think it's more like 1950 isn't it? Maybe the 04 is higher? Either way, it's there to help you get better gas mileage.

My car does not have an annoying seatbelt alert. Maybe that's because when I'm in the car, I'm wearing the seatbelt so I've never heard it before?

The car owner's manual describes how to disable the seat belt chime. Basically you
have to 1) turn on the ignition 2) buckle and unbuckle the seat belt three times 3) turn the
headlights on and off 4) buckle and unbuckle the seat belts three more times 5) watch
for the seat belt light to flash 6) buckle and unbuckle the seat belt once more.

I hope you turned Traction Control off when trying to do a nice "opener-up and launch". If not then you will get exactly what you described, especially the engine not "reaching full potential".

Other than that its a PITA to launch these things hard on the street. Heck with street tires you cant just drop the clutch and hammer it at all.

Thanks for the reples... I figured the hop was from a bad road or unstable driving on my part.

I wonder if i can reprogram the shift light to be like 3K...

If you get a chip, or a custom Predator tune, they can set that shift light anywhere you want. Mine is set at 6500. It doesn't make a very good shift light though...too low and not bright enough.
