Just wanted to introduce myself as a new '07 GT 5spd Premium owner Black/Charcoal.

Just took delivery yesterday from the dealership, and I experienced a couple of problems. In trying to get a sanity check I wanted to see what the wisdom on the forums was.

Car drove home from the dealer yesterday without problems, but went to start it this morning and I could hear the solenoid engaging, but the starter wasn't turning. Checked lights, etc - and realized they weren't dimming, and the solenoid engagement was positive (i.e. it didn't chatter as they usually do with dead batteries). I tapped the ignition key about 6 times, and finally the car started.

When it did, the low brake fluid indicator was illuminated, and the traction control light (indicating off) was on. Brake fluid seemed fine, I didn't try out the TCS to see if it did/didn't work. On the tach side, the vehicle with the skid marks was also illuminated.

The fluid wasn't low, and I couldn't turn "on" the TCS as it was disabled (depressing the button didn't do anything). I immediately drove the car to dealership since it was a starting issue - but haven't heard anything back as of yet.

This sound familiar to any tech's/owners? If so - what are the fixes?

Ive never heard that as a problem on any new car straight off the showroom floor.

That is ridiculous. I would trade it for a different car immedeately. If you buy a brand new car, you shouldnt have any problems what soever for a long time. Since yours is brand new and has problems already i would tell the dealership to give you a different mustang. It will only continue to have problems. since i took delivery on my car i have not had one single issue. And it starts up in 20 degree weather every single morning end have not had a single prob.

I fell bad for you truly. I would be very dissatisfied if that was me.

Taking it to the dealer is the best and only thing you should do. As far as what it might be, who knows. But keep records of every trip to the dealer. If you go back 3 times for the same thing, file a lemon case and get another car or your money back.

Make sure you've got the clutch depressed all the way to the floor when you're trying to start - the interlock is sensitive to having the pedal fully depressed. Some people even have to move the seat closer to make sure they depress it all the way.

As for other problems, good luck. Quality was not job 1 on these cars - my '05 is a profound disappointment. I could tell you stories, but they'd be the same stories as plenty of other people on this forum.

Wow

Red 65 is so right about the clutch needing to be ALL THE WAY to the floor for the starter to engage, at least that is the way it is on my 07 GT. But it wouldnt account for the fault light's. I have had mine for 6 months and have nearly 12.000 miles on it, and most of them are on the gas. I have never had any problems, but for the differential TSB which was fixed promptly and a free loaner car provided for the day.

This is a sad way to be treated sir! Like you dont know this :nonono: You must absolutley demand this situation be fixed ASAFP! This is WAY out of line even for Ford. But for sure give your dealer a chance. Some are actually pretty good, and no one is going to question you, your there for nothing but answers, the right ones, and now! :nice:

As a thought, I had a C5 Z06 and if the battery was low. the computer used to play all sorts of tricks like stopping all the controls in the door working and giving messages about the traction control, the brakes and everything else with all the various lights illuminating. There was nothing wrong with the car though. A good charge of the battery cured it. It was a problem that raised it's head on other C5's too so if you've been starting it a lot, I suppose the battery doesn't allow the computer to set itself correctly.

A similar computer glitch occurred on my Z28 when the battery was failing. If it started on a low battery, the idle would set at 2000rpm and I had to turn it off and restart it to get the computer to behave. Again, anew battery fixed the problem and since the S197 is known to have duff batteries, it might be worth looking at.
