Had a goal this summer of running 12's w/ my car w/ the power it is putting out it was well capable of it but being so green at the track poised the prob. I have been going to the track on a reg basis Ive made over 20 runs in the past month. I started out at 13.7 and each time improved upon that. Next visit I ran 13.4's then last night I ran 13.1's and today my first run was a 13.096 then finially busted off a run in the 12's

RT... .809

60' 1.938

1/8... 8.329

MPH.. 86.25

1/4.. 12.885

MPH... 108.58

Felt so good to get 12's. I knew I could do it if I could get enough pratice and that made all the diffrence. Thanks to paul and the others who gave me some great pointers to help me reach my goal. I currently have new suspension on order so Im hoping w/ that I can run mid 12's consider I dipped into the 12's w/ nothing but lowering springs and 132,000 mile stock suspension.

Congratulations. That is my goal for the summer. Except I want to do it on street radials. The day I run 12.99 on my everyday street tires is the day I buy my drag radials.

Thats a good goal to shoot for and it will be a tough one w/ the inconsistancy of the traction at NED. Going on a test and tune or a special events day is your best bet b/c the traction is usually very good. I was happy w/ how the car hooked up. I came close to a 1.8 60' . My friend mike was running consistant 1.7's on his Nittos DR's, who says Nittos suck at the track  well those who do dont know how to use them b/c I saw guys on MT Streets cutting 1.7s as well. Once you figure out the tire pressure of what your nittos like and figure out the burn out process w/ them ( they need lots of heat) then they stick fine. I ran 2 1.9 60's and one 2.008. My tires seem to like 14 PSI and a nice roasty toasty burn out, I like that part its alot of fun.

BTW: We have all of our runs on video from today, as soon as I get them I'll send them to my brother for him to hoast off his server.

Your right...practice means alot and sounds like you been beating that thing this month... :D

haha yeah its been driven harder this past month then in the past 5 1/2 yrs I have owned it but it seems to like it. Feels good to have a good car that you can go to the track and rip off 7 runs and then drive home and not have any issues at all.

I also weighed the car and came in at 3,518 w/ me in it 3,328 w/ me out of it. I Think some weight reduction will be in order. Id like to get it into the 3,4XX w/ me in it. The trunk was empty nothing was in it.

Well I can constantly hit 2.0 60's on my street tires on decent street nights with stock suspension. When I was at 13.2 I had the stock throttlebody and stock shifter. Hopefully those two will help me a bit to get that 12.99. Either that or I am going to powershift the hell out of my t5 :flag:

If you can get down to a 1.9 60' you wont need to power shift but thats really hard on street tires. Power shifting will gain you a few tenths but it may be at the expense of your T-5. I might power shift mine for the last run at the track sometime this fall that way if it busts I have all winter to get a new tranny.

Congrats!!! Now you know why drag racing is SO addictive. You look at where you started at, and what little changes you made and how they made for better numbers... this becomes a VERY addictive cycle! It's great to see results like yours and it shows how important practice is to getting great times.

I compleatly agree, it is very adicting and its such a great feeling to be able to see improvment. Its not as easy at it looks thats why I now respect what you have accomplished so much more. I still have alot to learn but I was very pleased that at every time I went to the track my ET droped, it was a great feeling. I tried diffrent launch RPM's and diffrent tire PSI and I finially found the combo that works best for me. Now once I have my new suspension I should be able to dip further into the 12's. Once I get the videos and get them hoasted I'll post them up.

Nice job man! :nice:
Now a little methanol kit and you'll dip a lot lower in the 12's with the ability to run more WOT timing. The upper & lower contol arms will help a lot also. Good luck next time out. :D
