1st time builden an engine. 86 mustang v8
i got the 302 block and AFR 185cc heads with steeda 1.7 roller rockers im looken for a new cam but not sure which way to go. the car is goin to be a weekend driver/and drag car. any ideas for a cam? and do i need pushrod guides??
Im not a cam guru but im pretty sure you'll need guide plates (pushrod guides) but only if your heads and rockers are stud mount, if theyre pedestal mount you wont need guide plates since they already have rails that prevent the same thing, If you dont have stud mount rockers i would get them and get rid of the pedestal but thats just me.
