Well just wanted to get some feedback on the new motor for my '89.
347 Stroker
Scat Forged Crank
Scat H-Beams
Diamond Pistons
Jegs/Kasse canted valve Heads Mild porting
Parker Funnel web
Demon 750
Cam TBD(Help?)
Let me know any input on this combo.
Thanks!

I dont know what the power numbers are going to be yet, but I'm hoping that someone out there has a similar combo to give me some idea.

I'm only guessing here 320 rwhp properly tuned...
Don't know your compression and I would use a cam with at least 5.50 lift w/ 1.6rr.

How did you manage to get a pair of Kaase heads?
Actually... WHERE did you get the heads?

I have nowhere near that head (Custom RHS215 and shaft rockers) and mine puts on the ground around 450hp... detuned. Had I used a Dart block, this same setup is good for >650 to the ground with a change in intake and carburetor.

If you're serious about making power and acceleration without any guessing or wasting money, you really should consider a custom camshaft.
I've used Camshaft Innovations for all of my camshafts and parts and I couldn't be happier with the service and support.
I can pretty much guarantee you'll make serious, serious power... if you commit to doing it right and if you fill out the "build sheet" found on the website.
A custom camshaft is the way to go to take full advantage of your setup. There are other custom camshaft companies... it's just that I have experience with Jay at CI.

Believe it or not I found those heads on ebay back in may. They were brand new, one was 100% ported and the the other 75%. I got them for a steal too($920 for both complete!) My guy who is doing the prep on my block said we would talk cams in a couple of weeks. I can't wait!

You got me there... I don't do "sheets".
I'd be willing to make a "wager" on trap speed to back up hp numbers though.
The car will go down the track in Road Race trim, but that won't affect mph.
What do you have to lose that I might want?

And if you don't mind... you probably want to fix the lift numbers on your cam recommendation. With a 3.4" stroke... you'll be hard pressed to make a valve lift 5".

Al right your a better typer, on the computer but your out on the #'s
The guy wanted the #'s, and post those trap speeds could you, "oh"
What does road race trim weigh ?
Not a person that knows sbf will agree with you. ( your n/a 347 putting 450 rwhp)
it's all right we all make mistakes some times even me .
Have you looked at the flow chart on those heads??
Maybe I looked at the wrong ones ?, but they are not huge.
And how do we get another 200 hp. using a R block.?
I think I'm doing the wrong things or somebody knows somthing I don't...

When I said Road Race Trim, I meant the suspension will be setup for Road Racing, which is definitely not perfect for Drag Racing.
I took about 250# out of the chassis, but I put 180# of roll cage back in.
Bigger Transmission
Reinforced 8.8 rear
So in fact, all the weight I shed, I gained back so it's a wash.

The formula (which will be close but not exact) to calculate Hp from MPH and Weight is HP=((mph/234)^3) x weight)

Going from memory, those heads appeared respectable "on paper".
The Kaase cylinder heads I'm thinking of use 2.190" intake valves, 1.60" exhaust, canted (not twisted), and had sizeable intake runner volumes. I have never had one in my hands, and knowing what I know now... I would want to know what the average and minimum cross sections are also.
I'm not aware these heads are even offered to the public... this is the first, and thus my questioning.
For what it's worth, my cylinder heads flow 304cfm @ .600" with 2" bellmouth and 28" of water. My intake lift is .623" with 1.6 ratio rockers.
I hate to bench race flow benches, and flow numbers don't emulate how the engine breathes anyhow.

Everything must be matched as a set. A combination if you will.
I've taken everything I knew from Chevys and ProStreet drag bikes and applied it to small block Fords and a lot of information and help from Jay Allen and a few others over on my "home" Board.
I have a lot of time and money invested in my topend, but that's where the acceleration and power comes from.

Yes they were offered to the public for a limited time. When I found them I called jegs to get some more info on them and the guy in tech told me to buy them regardless of price. I never thought i would have gotten them that cheap.
Yes they are 2.10/1.60;s
Yes they are Canted
Windsor head trying to be Cleveland Head!

I think that these guys are smoking rock, and that they've never seen a 347 that was built to rev. If you're running a custom cam, solid rollers, and an aftermarket block, look out! That 347 is going to scream. Rev the piss out of it and you can make 500 rwhp (or a hell of a lot more depending on how aggressive you get) with ease. You've got the heads, the intake, and the rotating assembly to back you up. Now you just need the valvetrain, fuel system, and tune to go with it.

Good luck,

Chris

I agree. It's all in how high you're willing to spin it. 450 to the wheels with a streetable solid roller is definately achievable.
