Yesterday at the last street legals of the year I ran a new best time with my car of 14.106!! I never expected to put that kind of time down but was super stoked when I did! I ran consistently all 12 passes with either a 14.1 or a 14.2........ well except for the first couple of passes where I was figuring out the launch How did everyone else do yesterday??? I know I saw RedHotCommet and MNBF run!!! Overall I would say it was a GREAT day at the track!!!

I'm curious, since my car's best time was a 14.6 @ 96 MPH (when kevin drove) and I ran 14.6 @ 95 MPH. Does mean that if the car was driven better it could get a 14.1 like Alex because we both trapped at the same speed?

Not necessarily, it is all in how the car is set up.

I'm estimating on my MPH it coulda be 97 or whatever it varied between 95 and 98 so I guesstimated 96 as I don't have the slip with me at work. I will check tonight when i go home! I also had a 1.9 60'

Yup on slicks (they weren't hooking much better then drag radials though ).... when I ran a 14.703 my 60' was somthing like 2.6 on the 18's

Graham, what were your 60ft times? A good 60ft time can make a big difference in the 1/4 mile.

My best was a 2.292 and that was on my 14.6 run. Kevin had a 2.260 with a 14.6 run when he drove my car that day.

A 2.2 60ft isn't too bad on street tires, especially for the first time at the track. I think the best I've ever had was a 2.19 or something.
Edit: and that was after about 50 passes

One point to keep in mind as well is that if you run a 14.6 with a 2.29 60ft, then add DR's and get the 60ft down to 2.09, your times will improve more than the .2, as your mph will be higher at the end of 1/4 b/c of the better drive out of the hole.

And don't forget that 14.6 was with a 200 pound guy in the car with me, so that could have been a 14.4! And since it was my first time I obviously have lots of room to improve.

Oh and does anyone know what RPM a stock 4.6 can safely rev to? Cause on that 14.6 run I trapped in 3rd gear at like 6500 RPM, ya SCT for ditching the rev limiter!

No it just means you and Kevin can't drive.

You should be faster then her car but she probably ran with slicks. Take off a couple tenths on yours if you did.

You should have made him sit in the back seat for added traction
I don't think I'd want to rev it any higher than 6500rpm.

hop in his car and prove me wrong then... Remember I have 14.6 seconds of seat time in a 4.6 car (only ran once). Lets see how well you do then. I'll give you 4 runs to beat my one .

Yeah Graham that is as far as I would want to rev it.

Past 6500 and you are asking for big time issues with the stock crank. You need a forged crank to take it up to and over 7000.

And Alex, woo hoo like the new avitar.
