While the cranks are rather tough, the biggest worry about over reving the 4.6 is PTV contact if you still have the stock heads/springs. There is quite a few builder's who have pushed the limits of the 2V crank and have not broke it. Just because 1 builder says it is bad doesn't mean it is. Tim is not always right and this is one of those cases.
I haven't had too many whacked 4.6's come into the shop b/c of over reving, but the 3 that I have had were all from PTV from valve float.
If the valves don't stay open at the higher RPM's, you don't get the PTV. That is why I said you were close.
