New brand of heads???

I just got a new Jeg’s catalog and was looking through the cylinder heads section, when I saw RHS aluminum/iron heads on page 35. Has anyone ever heard of these heads? They look a lot like the ProTopline heads, but they are under the Comp group. They look good and come with Comp Cams components. They are pricey at $759 each, for that much money I would like to know whats the deal with them. I couldn’t find much one the web, here is the Jeg’s page on them and RHS website.

Hasn't RHS made Chevy stuff for years? Sounds like another company seeking increased sales by making a product for another market.

talked to a comp cams guy a nhra o'reilly nationals in memphis this summer. he said rhs, owned by comp, "bought" out pro topline. the heads are pretty much the same as the pro toplines far as i can tell. the guy thats gonna port my heads says these are the best bang for your buck. looking at bare 200cc heads for my 408. with flow numbers close to those of AFRs that are cncd at a fraction of a cost, its a no brainer to get the rhs heads and get them ported.

The PTL heads were a good bang for the buck. I remember them going for less than a grand in some cases, these RHS heads are on the pricey side. $1500+ can get you some nicely ported TW heads.

I'll beleive these heads are worth buying when they start showing up on NMRA and FFW race cars, and win.

Well if they are the exact same casting as when PTL made them, then I know they are good performers. Thing is the PTLs sold so well because you could get a set for under a grand. Now thar RHS has them for a few hundred more $$ than the AFRs, I don't think they will sell so well.

damnit i was going to buy protoplines when i get finished with the 331 bottom end. For under a grand you couldnt beat them it seems. ****ttttt! i dont want to pay 1200+

1. Ok, that is what I want to know. If they keep the same casting, or they just bought the name.

2. Port volumes do not always mean a head will flow better, plus RHS makes a 180cc head.
