Advice needed!

Hi everyone, i have been floating around here for a very long time, and now i have a mustang so i can post! I am the new owner of a 1985 2.3l mustang. Everything is great, except the " black " plastic on the car has faded to grey. I really want to make it black again, can anyone suggest a product that works.

David

Welcome to the forums! I don't know much about painting but I would think to just get some jet black paint and clean up the pieces before painting them, then some clearcoat.

Mother's "Back to Black" works...until it rains. So you might be better off painting.

Also, are you sure the trim has faded to gray? I know there was a good bit of the trim on the '85-86 cars that actually was gray.

I'm pretty sure it was black because some of it looks black and there are other parts that look a greyish color.

starting in 1985 all trim was "Charcoal"

it does, however, fade over time...but never was the trim actually black...just darker than it is now...haha

NAPA carries a paint that is called "bumper black" and it works perfect. lasts a long while as long as it is maintained. It is not glossy and not flat black. just perfect.
