Replaced my clutch with a Spec stage 1 and flywheel with a Ford unit and now I have a vibration from 1000 - 1500 and starts up again around 2300. Pulled the old flywheel off and marked it to correctly install the new flywheel at the same point. Moved the dowel pins to the new plate, and matched the position of the dot on the flywheel as well as the "weight" on the back of flywheel.

Anyone have this problem before and know of a fix?

Is your clutch broken in? How many miles have you put on it since installation?

I installed a SPEC Stage 3 / Aluminum flywheel in my car and had some pretty interesting vibrations up towards redline which eventually went away after about 1,000 miles.

I was really concerned with the weight screwed into the flywheel being off center for a while. They're put on with tapered edges which allow them to be self aligned. Everything seemed to take care of itself after a while.

If you think it's really bad, take it in to a shop that often does clutch installs and take them for a ride around the block. They should be able to tell you if it's signifigant enough to have to pull the flywheel out again or if it'll work itself out.

Weight on the flywheel????

The only "weight" was the portion of the flywheel that was not removed in machining. Otherwise there was no weight that was bolted / welded on. Its pretty bad from 1k - 1.5k then comes back around 2.3 and up higher. But... it goes away, comes back... so I guess wait it out and see what happens.

1,000 -rpm to 2300....where do u slip the clutch out then

Ah... I understand now.

I used a Ford flywheel... so it looks like picture #2 still.

I guess i'll just let it alone for a while to see if it cures itself. If not... out it comes.

Is that the 50oz imbalance? Weight looks small...

Did you put the Driveshaft back in at the same place you took it out? If you didn't mark it when you took it out, that could be the vibration. If you have an aluminum DS then they are not as bad about vibrations afterwards. Just a thought.

Is it a vibration or something like a driveline shudder? Does it do it when you take off only or while cruising?

I had the same problem with installing a SPEC Stage 2 clutch kit and I thought maybee something was wrong with the flywheel. So I took everything back apart and replaced everything with fms stuff (new flywheel, and clutch kit). I still get a vibration from 2500-3000, but it feels a lot better. Today I replaced the harmonic balancer because I was confident that might be causing the problem. I'm still getting the same vibration. I'm all out of good ideas. Unless it has something to do with not putting my adjustable cable on and using the stock unit? Maybee there isn't enough slack in the cable and the TOB is pressing in the the pressure plate just enough to cause the clutch to slip around 2500-3000? Sounds a little too far fetched for me. I guess the only thing left to do is to let it go and see if it cures it's self.
