I want to have my 2005 Mineral Gray Mustang GT painted to be a new color, a color not offered from the factory. I want a dark gray color, much like the Eleanor in "Gone in 60 Seconds" or the Silverstone Gray on the Nissan 350Z or Smoke on the (gasp) Nissan Quest minivan. Basically, the Mineral Gray is the closest color to what I want, but in the light it looks (IMO) way too brown.

Anyway, how much would it cost to have the complete car painted to change the color? I understand that there are at least two levels of quality from which I can choose. The first being a complete take-down and repaint so that the car's paint looks straight out of the factory. The second seems to be a more simple, less comprehensive approach that does not involve as much pre-prep.

Again, what it would it cost? What are my options? Is the second option really that bad?

Any and all help is appreciated.

dont paint a brand new car...i agree i wanted the same color as you and went withn the silver with red interior. if you paint a new car it will lose alot of its value... except to someone looking for the exact same thing as you...people will think it was hit... and to do it right it cost a lot of money

Sell your 2005 Mustang and buy a 2006 with Titanium paint. It will probably be cheaper than getting a good paint job on your 05.

I'd wouldn't paint the stang, I'll go for performance wise, but it's yours. I'll go with that new paint from Saleen. the orange, red, yellow looking one

Whatever you do, don't use Nissan paint. I just had my 02 Maxima wrecked, and that I had the front repainted 1 year ago, due to flaking in the front bumper....All Nissans have the same problem....
