Good point. There is such a large range of applications...its hard to label 1 muffler as "the best". A great sounding muffler on a <300rwhp setup...like a 2 chamber flowmaster...is going to be extremely loud once you add 100-200rwhp.

For the average combination....any aftermarket muffler will be fine and wont make a noticeable difference unless you are powered by a turbo. Otherwise...weather will make a bigger difference. 5hp is not enough for me to forgo "sound" and choose power. An in most applications...its not a 5hp or 5ft lbs tq difference. The ever so popular muffler shoot out shows this...

Turbo applications....a switch from flowmaster to dynomax results in 30-40hp. ( will add high HP non turbo set ups will see a larger difference than what this chart shows...but i dont have any data for that.)
