I'll take a few pics of my rear brake lights during the day for you. Hopefully, that will shut you up I would today, but its raining here. I want to get the brightest possible day for you so you have nothing else to bitch about, lol.

Do we really depend on BRAKE lights to tell you to stop?

For me, the clue is the vehicle looming closer in my windshield.

Hmm ... I can see my brake lights just fine with my tint on them. I think you should go get your eyes checked again. My guess it that when they were 20-15, it was also 20 years ago.

How do you see your own brake lights while you drive?


And you guys are missing the point. SOME people have too much tint on their brake lights. I could care less about your car or you taking photos of them (like that's gonna do anything). Those people with too much tint on their car make driving a hazard, mostly to themselves....

I've been driving for 23 years. I've never been in an accident, so I can say that I'm fully aware of my surroundings when I drive. I don't wait to see RED before I slow down.

How do I see my own brake lights while driving? Who said I see them while driving? I said I can see them fine. I think you need to learn some better reader comprehension before you try to mock someone.

As far as gracefully bailing out of your comment, I think it's the right choice. Why don't you tell all of us that we don't have too much tint and it looks great and we can all go our separate ways. This thread wasn't even about tint on lights but yet you had to bring it up and open up yourself to a beating. I don't think any of us here can not agree to an extent, that yes you can tint your lights too much, but I don't think that's the case with anyone here. Now as far as the rest of the thread, if you don't have something good to contribute ... :Zip2:

Stick with the laws on tinting...in VA Beach the local police have light meters and they will stop you if you're not within specs...it's not worth the extra attention and getting stopped. Then you have to get it replaced besides paying the fine, etc. The local tint shops will give you what you want, but they will charge their fee all over again if your tinting was not within the law's specs. Put yourself in the cop's shoes...would you want to walk up to a car with 5, 10% tint?..heck no...so don't ask the for attention...remember when the heat is not on you, it's on someone else.

Looks like Indiana requires no less than 30% all the way around and none on the windshied:

I've got a lot of LEO friends and I'm planning on going into that field of work so I'm always talking to them about stuff like this. All of my buddies say that they couldn't care less if the vehicle has 1% tint on it as long as the driver rolls their windows down once they are stopped. I ALWAYs roll my windows down, place my hands on the steering wheel, and wait. So with that said, if you have tint, roll your windows down for the officer and all is well. Of course, it might be different in Florida, because the officers know that the legal limit on the tint won't do anything to stop the sun. I don't think I've ever seen a police vehicle in my county that doesn't have at least 10% on it.

NastyStang, that may be true for Florida...but I can almost guarantee you'll get pulled over in Virginia...in Virginia we also have the dreaded annual State Safety inspection where they check everything from brakes, tires, exhaust system (smog in the northern parts), tinting, etc.,...I don't think that Florida has an annual Safety Inspection, right? I think it's great that Florida is so lax on that stuff...just as long as some junker doesn't run into you.

Correct we do not have inspections anymore. I believe they did away with them in the 80s. I don't worry about a junker running into me, either. I've got good enough insurance. LOL
