Yeah 1 inch does the trick on there, I had the motorsport tall alluminum on my 94, cowl hood and some grade 8 bolts from the local store. I couldnt find the right bolts for a long time and had to use some washers for a while.

Good luck!!!

Great looking car! So the factory hood will not clear a GT40/Cobra intake with a 1" spacer? I would love to go with the polished versions of those covers on my Cobra, but I really want to stick with the stock look. I guess I'm kind of going for a sleeper.

Really not sure if these valve covers are worth all the effort! Swapped my lower, got my upper on, and went to bolt up my Fox throttle cable bracket.... Hit the valve cover! I lopped off the cruise control portion so I think it will fit now. Pics coming later, possibly vids if I get it started today! Had to come in watch the baby so the wife could go out.

Ok good news, I got it started! I was so surprised that it fired... Lifters clacked for a while and I think the computer is mad at me. Was an all day effort, still have a few issues:

1. I have no tune and am running 24lb injectors, a cam, no egr! I am surprised it even started and held an idle. It did die several times I had to feather it and it finally sat there and idled.
2. My alternator is not charging now, and running the car drained the battery
3. Upper rad hose started to suck in for some reason
4. After I shut it off some fuel started leaking out of the schrader valve on the rail. I hope its only because my I turned it off and went to start it again, gave it a couple tries and my battery was too weak to start it (pressurised the fuel system?) any suggestions on this one?
5. Hood is not even close to shutting! I have a R hood to slap on but its green! Will do for now.
6. I am tired, been a long month of working on this thing!

Sorry no vids, I set the camera up for a video but did not know my battery had died
Hopefully I can start working on the other issues this week. I still need to install the quarterhorse and get a tune written. I am happy for now!

Ross

Very nice! At least now you only have small issues to work out.

check the alternator fuse.

go get a valve core tool from a tire shop or auto parts store and tighten the valve core in the shrader valve. If it doesn't seal, see if you can get a new core for it.

Not sure about the hose collapsing, maybe need to get all the air out of the system? Maybe it's because the water pump is gasping for water, but sucking air instead?

The collapsed hose is more than likely a vacuum on the cooling system. Either not enough coolant or its just not bleed out good.
Probably need to set the Idle with the IAC reconfigure. Its on this site somewhere, and Im to lazy to look right now.

Looks great BTW!!!! Love the valve covers!!!!

No real progress in the last couple days. I fixed the leaky valve on the fuel rail, needed a new core. I also bought a FP gauge to mount there but I did not put it it on yet. Got a 24lb MAF to put on for now until I get the quarterhorse installed. Hopefully get back to work on it this week and get some video of it running!

Got to work on the car for a little while tonight. Fixed a couple things.

1. Constricting coolant hose-added coolant!
2. Charging issue- had to get a new alternator $$$
3. No more leaks from the fuel rail with the new valve core.

I installed my 24lb pmas maf and the car would hardly run. It started and idled rough, and refused to rev up, just died every time I hit the gas. I put the stock maf back in and it was sounding pretty good! Super rich with the 24lb injectors and the stock 19lb tune. Was holding a decent idle and revving up nice, nut would die every time after I revved it, had to feather the pedal.

Another issue came up tonight, I put plugs in both the valve covers, leaving only the pcv for any crankcase ventilation. I guess the pcv was not enough because I had a hissing from the dipstick tube from the crankcase pressure! I put a breather in the drivers side valve cover(the sealed kind with the outlet on the side) and connected a hose from it to the elbow on top of the throttle body. Looks ugly but took care of the hissing out the dipstick tube and the car actually seemed to run better after this.

I am hoping to get a laptop from a friend tomorrow so I can write a basic tune to my quarterhorse and install it on Friday.

Pics and vids soon!

Does anyone have a link to where one can read about and buy one of these Quarterhorse doodads? I'd like to see how it compares to the tweecer. I google and and get nothing but real horses, very poor choice of names if they want search engines to find them properly.

eectuning.org is a good place to read up on the Quarterhorse. It is just hardware, you still need software and a wideband. Hopefully I will have some feedback on it soon.

Picked up a disc to disc rear with 4.10's already in it today!

Figured it was time for an update on this thread. Still having some minor tune issues, been running OK but I found out I have a bad tps(or I wired it wrong) Computer is throwing a low voltage code for the tps and I am only getting .24 out of it. Still need to fix that.

Installed H&R supersport springs last night with mach 1 tokico shocks and struts. Also threw on some 10th anniversary Cobra wheels I picked up for cheap. I think it looks pretty sweet!

I am really happy with how the car is coming along. Hopefully I can get the gears done in the next week or two.
