Hey guys. Todd from KC. I’ve got a new to me car. It’s a Factory Five AC Cobra. It’s good good solid build and a newly rebuilt engine from a 93 Fix body. Engine detailed to come.

Very low miles on the rebuild/build. 1000 miles on the AC Cobra. All the accessories and important parts are factory from the 93 Fox body donor car (MAF, TB, Injectors, fuel pump). The engine details are:
  • GT-40 Long Block
  • Edelbrock victor jr
  • Fly cut pistons
  • Compcams 1.7 roller rockers
  • Compcams 1pc hardened pushrods
  • 130 amp alternator
  • King cobra clutch
  • X-303 cam
  • MSD distributor
So here is my question(s)/situation.

I realize that I need to make some upgrades. Primarily injector size (likely 30 pound), and MAF/65mm Throttle Body. Maybe even fuel pump. But before I can do that, I need to better estimate the potential HP of this build. 24lb injectors might be better if the HP is lower than I suspect. Also the TB spacer and MAF size and specs should be matched.

-My car starts great, but chugs a lot during idle.

-Aggressively pressing on the skinny pedal results in the engine cutting out badly.

-when the motor gets hot, bad hesitation at any rpm above a high idle.

I think all these are a result of not enough fuel/air. Not enough fuel to support aggressive throttle, and not enough fuel to fight vapor lock while engine is hot.

So here is goes:

Does it sound like I am on the right track to fix my issues?

What does anyone believe my HP/Tq to be with my setup?

What changes would you make to my engine to get it running at peak?

Thanks guys. I appreciate any help you can offer.
