New here, 04Cobra/Kenne Bell advice/experience

*** Go here to skip directly to question without summary of my interests.

Hey all, haven't been here in years, used to own a '99GT tru 35th anny limited, No. 2013, lost in tractor trailer accident. Fixed and sold to friend. Resulting lawsuit bought me the Cobra and a home, I've been blessed and appreciate everything, every day, the $, and more importantly that myself and newborn son weren't killed.

Anyways, I just got my car back, had to get the tune after installing the Kenne Bell 2.6H. My other modds are in my details, it's fully setup for corner burning, not drag.

My question relates to my tune, and seasonal performance. I've had the car, well, not long, 3 months, barely drove it the first 8 weeks, has been in the shop more than 90% of the time, suspension/brakes, suspension setup and testing, etc etc, my god what a difficult process. So to my question;

This is my first positive displacement supercharger, and I've never owned a car with a centrifugal. My only experience with forced induction was a Viggen Saab, and I know my KB doesn't lag like a turbo or centrif.

***So, I'm sure there's plenty of you here with my same blower, it's KB's best selling one for the Terminator. I put about 300 miles on it stock, and around 250 over this last weekend, so I have not yet driven it in the summer. What kind of issues may I face, in warmer weather? How do these mustangs run compared to say, a '99-'04 GT 16V? My Saab ran like crap, even with a great tune, in warm weather, how are Terminators generally, and how might mine differ having the 2.6H? < Mostly concerning consistency and reliabilty, because my 99GT was inconsistent in warmer weather.* Oh, I guess it's important, the car is tuned to run on 93 octane, it's a modest street tune. Longevity/Reliability are my biggest issues next to top notch brakes/suspension.

Thank you sooo much for any info, and even remarks/advice/experiences you don't mind sharing with me, concerning this blower and what I can expect, as far as performance, reliability, and what leaque I'm in now. Thank you so much for any input, of any kind, on the Terminator generally, my modds, etc etc. I remember getting fantastic advise time and time again in the past with my GT, and look forward to some of you Termy owner's opinions and/or experiences, "especially" anyone that races on the circuit, or have in the past, cause I had a tough time getting the car handling well, and now with all this power, I'm not certain if I'll need to have it messed with.

*In the warmer weather the GT ran as follows: If on throttle, somewhat heavy for more than a minute, for example in 5th gear on a hill on the highway ya know, if I'd downshift and punch it, the power wouldn't be as good as if I were gentle, or off the throttle for a good 30 seconds, I also had this issue with both 5.0's I owned, although one was real good and not nearly as noticeable. My curiosity is how Terminators compare, if anyone is familiar with this issue I'm trying to describe, stock, and with my blower.

Hey bro. Good to hear that everything worked out for you. And yes, you are blessed. Anyway, from my experience with bown cars, weather always effects them slightly. However, the more conservative your tune is, the less the performance will be effected. Wait to here what some of the cobra guys say. You might also want to post in the SVT thread.

That's thoughtful of you timeless, thank you, however I decided to create a new user account. Only because my old username reflected the mustang I owned at the time, the 35th GT Limited, and so because I now have the Termy, I liked the idea of having a new name, same person tho. And it wouldn't have been an issue, such as asking you to change my username and keep my post count etc etc, because it was low anyways, and I wasn't well known.

Anyways, I'll just hang out and wait and see what kind of responses I may get in here, if this thread doesn't reach any, or rather, enough Terminator owners, I'll try re posting it, or having it moved maybe...? to the SVT section. But thanks SmokeurHonda, I may not have thought to post there, that would have been a much better place to post, I should have been more observant. :)

Anytime brother. Just here to help the fellow stang owners. Wicked combo by the way. I'm about to get my Vortech on and should be around 400. I can't imagine what it's like to own a 600+ HP car. I've driven a couple, and they are nasty.

Roger that. Enjoy your stay here under the new name. :)

Also, let me know if you would like this, or any other future thread, relocated, closed, etc. That's what we are here for! :nice:

Ahh, thankfully there were no issues with the installation, I'll just hope it's not a lemon part ;) It runs fine, honestly, it was better than I'd hoped it would be. I dunno what it would be like without the brakes and suspension though.

It's so incredible, the gains from these KB's...my first drive I couldn't believe it. Sucks their support may not be any good, I'll just hope I get someone on the phone that cares, if I ever have any problems.

I think what I love the most, well besides the sound of course...is the lack of the drop off in boost. Stock it'd drop from 4k to 6k, like 3-4psi, also the KB seems so well engineered, that it feels like it's N/A, no lag at all, absolutely incredible, I finally understand what all the hype has been the last 5 years.

I haven't had much of a chance to push the car, other than in a straight line, no surprises there, but I need to get on a track, and see if my setup is suitable at the new hp/tq specs. But now it's cold, the GoodYears won't tell the truth...uhg, I have to wait until spring to get a feel for it. Well if I can keep it straight I'll be happy, I haven't had any experience with these cars, hell my first ride in a terminator had me shaking!
Oh, SmokeurHonda, good guess man! It made 588RWHP on pump lol, friggin right on, sounds like you know ur stuff real nice, exactly the kinda peeps I was hopin to come across in here, solid advice is priceless.

I live in Florida and when it gets down into 60's and 70's with low humidity my car feels like it runs a bit stronger than during the summer when it's 90's and above with humidity. I've had no issues with the blower due to hot weather other than a hardly noticeable difference in how hard it pulls. No matter what the weather I can make a smoke show on demand and that's all that matters to me. :)
Enjoy your ride and keep us up to date on the corner carving adventures. I'm starting to get into that myself.

I spoke too soon about their support. After not getting answers from one employee I emailed another employee and he got back to me the next day.

Do you have a switch chip with the switch installed? If so, where did you place it?

I thought the 03/04 Cobras had serious heat soak issues on open track?

I know the base suspension and such is much more suited for it, just going off what I've heard and read. Maybe that's only with the stock eaton? If not, maybe look into a meth kit for when things get really hot, or maybe that kit that uses your AC to cool the IC.

Greg...

Always a wealth of information. I hope you come back to Colorado before you move back to Las Vegas. Rocky Dawgs and Desert Dawgs... We are a breed of our own.

The stock cobras do have this issue. I know upgrading the heat exchanger helps alot with this issue. Also the KB is a much more efficient blower, so there shouldn't be as much heat soak. The combo of the two make for a nice strong runner:nice:
