My father and I rebuilt this car over 12 yrs ago and I drove it everyday till I lost the brakes, parked it and it sat when I joined the army for the past 8 yrs

I have a 1965 mustang coupe

200 ci inline 6
C4 trans
drum brakes
all stock

what she used to look like

I have some plans for it
first thing is go buy a new jack since the one i have wont lift it high enough to put a stand under here and I will be able to replace the worn tire and be able to push her around

here are some pics.

Even if you go totally "period" you can get 350 hp. In a 302 that would be scary fast. You could also go with a stroker or move up to a 351W. Heck, you could get Ford Racing crate engines up to 347 cid, and dress them out to look like 60's engines.

Just do a lot of reading before you start, and plan ahead. The V8 conversion on a 64-66 does not change the body or the interior, but it changes pretty much everything else. Even the underbody brake line bracket welded to the floor near the axle must be removed and replaced, if you plan dual exhaust.

A lot of people and magazines will try to get you to use all sorts of exotic aftermarket brakes, steering, exhaust, etc., which is fine if your planned use includes such stuff, but a lot of it is just not needed to get great performance out of your car.

i am wavering between either a 289 -> 331 0r a 302 -> 347 and the dressing be all period correct aftermarket.

but for the brakes im thinking the s197 ones if i can.

I would really love a s351 motor to drop in and just say screw it
