Should be pretty close I'd say depends on the driver. I beat z28's of that year w/ my 01 w/ a chip, intake, and exhaust. I dont know if its faster or not but I beat him, he may of been a terrible driver. The H-pipe can be a tough one, it was really easy with my buddy helping. It took me a few extentions and a U-joint connector on the end. And don't strip them...yes I did and that was a real bitch. Worst part is getting it to come off...replacing is a breeze. Hope this helps

pre 98's (lt1's) run mid 14's stock. A modded GT could smoke a stock LT1. LS1 is a different story..

Is yours an auto vert? The 99' up non-vert 5spds are good match for the LT1's stock for stock with the slight edge going to the LT1, but a good driver in the Stang means alot with the 5spd. The auto verts aren't as fast due to the extra weight and the slushy auto tranny, so it takes a bit of modding to get them to run with the LT1's.

to remove the stock pipe you need patience some wd-40 some extensions and a joint... and like he said don't strip it when i did my header install i got pissed stripped it try to dremel it and kept breakeing it so out came the torch...and let me tell you that was tricky business.
headers aren't that bad if you got the right tools a little time when i look at the 99+ models compared to my 97 it looks like it would be a lot easier so for a future mod it would be worth the work you just be willing to work.
good luck

My stock 04 will outrun any lt1, it dont come to bad with ls1's, of course the way I drive I usually bark 2nd and 3rd gears so I give her all she's got... ( and yes my tires are new)
Funny you should say that, I have an LT1 engined Z-28 sitting in my garage that would like to prove that statement incorrect [hint: it's not stock and is much much faster than my Stang]:D
Some stock, well cared for LT1's scoot pretty good, I know of two that are stock and run high 13.8's, although I know of many others that run 14.2's. I'm not a big fan of the Camaro's, they are plasticy and the cramped engine bay makes them hard to work on. I bought mine as a write-off and turned it into a "drag strip only" car, but when they are in good tune they do scoot rather well.

I was referring to stock or midly modified lt1's like exhaust, then again Im not saying any LT1 would die, just most of the ones iv raced, I know how quick camaro's are, for all i know all of the ones I were againt were bad drivers with an auto tranny, and a ls1 6 speed would roast me, its only the auto's I can stick with, they still win but just not by too much... I love comaros and trans am, I know how quick, Didnt mean to try and diss em.

Ya I know what you meant, just couldn't help :stick:

I think your mods listed would help. You are driving an auto vert, which means the car is heavy. The tuner will help firm up your shift points but you really need 4.10's, especially in an auto, and probably a high stall converter. Like mustangs, not a TON of stock z's out there. The mods you listed will definately help your stang breath and exhale easier, so no matter what they are good. Can't speak much on the Summit H-pipe however, because I haven't heard of anyone running this pipe???

Oh, and the car looks good!
