Two questions for this crew of knowledge here.
#1 Will a 2000 Lightning motor fit this car or is it a taller motor?

#2 What/whos motor would you guys suggest for this car to stand the same set up he had? See Blown 01 thread.

Thanks for the help guys and please feel free to post any links to get this thing going again.

It will not fit with a stock hood. I remember a guy on here (or corral) that had done this and he had just cut a hole in the stock hood. But it looked ugly sitting out. Id recommend a tasteful cowl hood with the minimal clearance needed.

A mustang with a L motor =

1st & foremost: how much are you willing to spend on this?? I too am looking into a 5.4 motor but hell those 3v'ers are making some serious hp on the stock motor let alone building the bottom end.

your buddy has already spent the money on the s/c....and you're not quite sure how much damage is done to the engine....my vote is to start with a forged/billet short block from a reputable place (vt is where I'm goin next summer)....then build up the engine with anything you can spare from the blown one & replace anything that's messed up on the top end....then pop the s/c on there and up the boost to 20+ psi to get in the 600hp range....just my opinion

There is a 5.4 lightning motor complete to the heads, less intake, and oil pan that he is thinking of buying. Any forseen problems going that route? Also his budget is 4K.
