You should do the motor swap and tell your friend to sell the blower to me!!!

Call T&J and get a forged shortblock for ~$3000.

A mach 1 motor will cost you much more than $3K once you figure in all the parts that you'll need to make it work, plus labor. If I were you, I'd get a shortblock built with forged internals for $3K and put your SVO goodies on top. Then when you have more money, get a Vortech or Paxton be we well over 400rwhp.

With a T&J or VT shortblock and a SQ or Novi, he'd be over 500rwhp easy.

On a 99+ GT, I think it's only about $175 in extra parts, plus a new computer or chip for the stock one.

Labor should be MUCH less than installing a forged bottom end. Pulling a motor out, then dropping one in vs. pulling motor, stripping it all down, rebuilding the new one, dropping motor back in.

HP wise, a Mach 1 engine will give you more power NOW. A forged bottom probably wouldn't do anything immediately. You could rev it higher, but the stock heads/valvetrain probably will fall flat on its face after 6000rpms (that is, if it even takes well to going noticeably above 6000).

In the long run, the forged engine is a better idea if you plan to dump more and more thousands of dollars into the car.

Then again, nobody said you can't put a blower onto a Mach 1 engine either. Aren't they safe to at least 450rwhp (off of Tim's voodoo tuning, of course)?
