I bought my first mustang yesterday.
It's a 1980 Mustang. 4 cylinder 5 speed. White in color, brown interior w/ vinyl top
I picked it up dirt cheap. No rust, one small dent in hood, the front airdam is perfect shape.
Motor wasn't getting fire when they parked it, so I will tinker with it.
Plans for it include my fresh rebuilt mod'ed 302 that i am pulling out of my 72 Mercury Comet GT and the C4 or a good T5 if I can find one.

Anways, just wanted to say hello and hope I can find some good info on these cares here.

07 Shaker 500 problems...

I purchased an 07 Mustang and am having problems with the Shaker 500 system. It works fine while I am listening to it, but when I shut the car off and then after awhile start it back up with the system running, the CD player will continuously search for a CD and eventually after not finding it (there are 6 in the player), it will shut off. If I hit the power button while the CD is searching, the radio will come on and play over the top of the CD while it's searching. I have had it replaced twice now and Ford is telling me they have not heard of this problem...ANYONE OUT THERE THAT HAS?

I haven't heard of this problem nor have I experienced it (I do not have the system or a similar vehicle).
You might have better luck in an S197 forum or the Sound forum.

Andy I think I'd leave the Comet alone, unless it's rust in the shape of a Comet. Even though it's the Maverick's ugly brother, it's still a cool car. That's just me and I'm kinda partial to Mavericks and Comets.

That 80 Mustang should have the old Duraspark ignition. If the coil and everything else checks, I'd suspect the ignition box. Sometimes you'll see some melted spooge under the box. It's an indicator that the box has crapped out given the age of the car, a previous box died that way. The spooge is the potting they used to protect the electronics from heat, moisture, and vibration.

You're asking us this why?...

I happen to like the Comet better than the Maverick.
I sold my comet because the mustang was in better shape.
I caught a lot of crap from my fiancee for it, as she loved that car.

And about the question on the brown interior.. yea its a tan instead of brown. Sorry

The ignition problem w/ the 2.3 was the duraspark. I kept my coil and box from the Comet and tried each one seperately on the Mustang. It was the box.
Its not firing now, think the carb is full of crap and mabe the intake full of dirt dobbers nests. Im not gonna bother with it to much as Im putting in the 302 and C4 as soon as I get the rest of my parts.
