Look at buying 5spd 06 or 07 GT and have some Qs. Have done lots of reading and searches. My Qs. Do all GTs have the digital readout that gives gas mileage? What's the difference between a GT Deluxe and Premium? Looks like all 07s come with 3.31 axle ratio unless you order the 3.55 option? What's standard 06 GT rear axle ratio? Does the drivers seat raise and lower in both years? And lastly, do both years have a spare tire? Over the years (61 if them!)I've had 3 Corvettes, 2 Porsches, FFR Cobra replica, GTO, 3 series BMW, and how have an 06 Miata (no spare) that really is fun to drive but just too small. Is there any big diff between 06 and 07 GTs? Anything to look out for or stay away from? Thanks in advance. :)

I think a GT Deluxe is basically a base mustang GT... little to no options... and GT Premium is a mustang GT with most options... not positive though...

I think all the GTs have the drivers seats that raise and lower and every model should have a full size spare...

I can't think of anything you should stay away from... Just make sure the previous owner took good care of the car and be aware of some of the Mustang GT TSBs...

Biggest thing Premium over GT is leather, powered seat, and better stereo...there's a few other things too, though. The mileage readout is part of the Interior Upgrade Package and is not standard on all models.

All cars have adjustable seat height. Some are powered, some are not (see above).

They do NOT have a full size spare, but the typical "donut" in the trunk.

Stock gear ratio on all 05+ is 3.31 3.55 was an option.

Wrong !!! stock gear ratio's on all 05-06 Mustangs equipped with manual transmissions, were 3:55's. Only automatic equipped transmissions came stock with 3:31 gears.

However stock gear ratio's on all 2007-09 models, changed from 3:55 to 3:31.

That being said, those who have 2007-09 models that want 3:55 gear ratio's, must now order them as optional. So in that respect, you are correct.

You want the GT "Premium" and not the base Deluxe one. Also try and get one with the Interior Upgrade Package.

GT Premium + IUP = leather seats, satin aluminum interior trim, leather wheel with aluminum spokes, My-Color dash, full gauges, Computer info dash, Shaker 500 stereo and special aluminum sill plates. I'm sure I missed a few things but you get the idea.

I concur with this fellow. Totally. If you get the Deluxe, it's pretty much a stripper. Very dark, black plastic interior. Ugh!

On my 2007, 3.55s were a $100 option. On the 2008 model, 3.55s were a $300 option. If you think you'd like more gear (3.73, 4.10), I'd skip the 3.55 option and spend approx. $500 bux and get the ratio YOU want installed.

i know,at 57 i guess i grew up to be a old fart that doesnt want to change gears any more.and the new auto trans seems to be about as fast as a 5 speed.and the saleen sc makes it even better.

My dealer located me, my Deluxe 08 Gt, with Gray leather and power seat.

no interior upgrade pkg no shaker stereo. (saved about $1,450+ )

but having the gray brakes up the all black dash so it isn't as bad, if you want a black interior you definatly want the interior pkg.

It also had the polished 18's and the GT exterior pkg. In the end it saved me close to $2,000-$2500 off the price because it wasn't a Premium. (most premiums had too many extras that jacked the price up that i didn't want)

Keep in mind it will be hard to find an older Premium GT with outmore options and stuff added to it.

Might have already been stated:

- IUP gives you the MyColor dash (6 gauges) which has the info center with the Avg MPG. I believe it's an option on both Prem and Deluxe.

- 3.55's were standard on 05-06 GT 5spd Manuals and optional after that.

- Prem GT has the leather seating (Pwr Driver) along with some other bells and whistles that are options on the Deluxe.

- Dognut spare on all V6 & GT mustangs. GT500 and Bullit, I believe, are the only ones with no spare.

- There were a few changes made to strenghten the frame some where along the 07 production run. Not 100% sure what they did nor why. They also added a A-arm brace on the coupes around the same time.

Hope that helps alittle! :nice:

There are some decent deals out there if you look long enough. I purchased a 06 GT Prem 5speed with 6,800 miles on it about 4 months ago. It has the My Color dash, shaker 500, and the 18" polished bullet wheels. Color is Titanium with Black leather. It has about 1/2 dozen small rock chips but otherwise it looks like show room shape. I paid $20K out the door (taxes, fees, ect. included). I had been looking for about 1 year for a Titanium or Vista Blue 5speed with black interior and it just happened to shop up one day about 20 min from my house.

On a side note this is my 3rd stang. I had a 89 Gt, 96 Cobra, and now the 06 GT. I really like this car a lot and it is much nicer than my 96. If I had the $ I would like to have bought a GT500 but for the bang for the $ it is damn hard to beat a slightly used GT right now. Plus you get to have fun modding it. I am only getting started, Steeda springs, BMR Adj. Panhard, Shelby Polished grill, Hurst Billet shifter.

I was set on a deluxe, vice a premium, until I lost it and got the Bullitt.

I would still prefer non leather seats. I really like the mpg display. I am glad I did not get the fancy headlights, and most of the other stuff.

One of the major attractions of the Bullitt was the spoiler delete and subdued exterior.

It has 3.73 gears stock.

There should be some good deals out there on GT's these days.

So far, with 7700 miles since April, I absolutely love Bullitt!

Did it for the GT500 coming out. Helped brace the engine bay for the 5.4L iron block that was stuffed in between the fenders.

Great info, thanks tons. I've had this affliction (cars) since a teenager and it's still alive and well at 61! Didn't get to play much while 21 years in USAF and raising kids and moving all around the world, but with kids married and gone, now its time to play again! A Mustang GT looks like great bang for the buck, and maybe sneak on a mild (5-6 psi) Roush, Whipple or Kenne Bell puffer for fun.
