Hi, I'm new to Stangnet, just blindly feeling my way around. I have a 89 LX conv. 5.0, was wondering if any body out there has recently made a gear change. I have the orig. 3.08 gears and would like to change to 3.73 and was wondering if there's a significant performance improvement for the cost... THX.

Hey, welcome to stangnet.

Good question, and yes, there is a big difference in how the car feels swapping to 3.73s.

Do you have a automatic or manual transmission?

I'll move your thread over to the general talk area of the '79-'95 subforum, it's where we fox nuts congregate.
Ok thanks. still figuring things out, I have a aod trans. thanks for the input...

Hello guys I am also a newbie to :SN:.
Hi Ruth, welcome to stangnet.

You have officially high jacked a thread as your first act here (just means you posted on someone else's thread).

No worries though, when you want to start a thread, hit the "Post New Thread" tab in the upper right corner and tell us what's on your mind. If you post on someone else's thread, no one will know that you have posted, other than someone reading the original posters thread.

All that said, it's good to have you here. What is your current mustang? We have subforums for each style of mustang, like '79-'95 subforum for fox body nuts like me.

Go to the General Talk section of your particular subforum and post a hey there with pictures of your car. We all love pictures here. Lots of help will be found there, plus friendship with fellow mustang owners from all over.

I had the stock 2.73 gears swapped out for a set of Ford Racing (from LMR) 3.73 gears in my 93 LX with AOD. Huge difference in throttle response, definitely worth the money. Don't forget to order the speedometer cable gear to correct for the gear change. LMR has the calculator so you can get the correct speedo gear.

This is true. I rarely check anywhere else on here.
