Well today, I had my weld wheels installed. What a pain in the azz. Ended up breaking a new morosso stud, so I took the car to a local meineke shop for them to finish the job. We had to drive around town to match up a stud that would work with the weld prostars and that was similar to the moroso stud. Then we had to heat it up to widen so it would fit. After that, came grinding the brake calipers. After that, we tightened the wheels down, and neither of them was tracking. Finally we made some adjustments, and after 4 hours, the wheels are on. However after we got to around 70 foot pounds of tq tightening them, you could see the aluminum starting to give around the bolts, even with expensive lug nuts and washers. After that, I took the car for a drive, and the right front tire is digging into the wheel well like crazy. Not even close to being drivable on a right turn. And my car has stock suspension. If I had to do it all over again, I would have gone with Centerline Telstars and taken the extra 2-3 pounds per wheel. I ran telstars for a long time on my old car and think that the quality and fit is better.

The good news, I went to a local salvage yard(actually the 30-40th in the last 2 days) to look for a bullitt intake I saw listed online. It turned out that they mislabeled it. However, I did pick up a set of used PI heads for 175 bucks. I must have seen 100 sets in the last couple days, but these looked the best, and only had 2 valves that were questionable.

So my 3rd headswap is going to be underway in the next week. The heads are going into westside machine monday morning, and Ill be picking up a set of LT headers on Wen. I hoping to have the car in the shop on Monday the 14th, and post numbers by the 18th or 19th!

just thought Id share my eventful day with everybody.

Mark

Sounds like a fun day.

Thats a bummer about the wheels not fitting correctly. Is that typical of that style?

And sweet score on those heads man. If I could find a set for that price id get them and send them off to my buddy for some port work and save up for some cams.

Sounds like it will come together nicely for you though, cant wait to see those numbers.

If you look--he has radials on the back I wish the skinnies weren't such a PITA as I wanted to make a pass with them, however it's not an easy swap over apparently

You seen any cheap pi intakes in your quest for the heads?

they had one that they would give me for 80 bucks, but it didnt have the aluminum crossover. I might go ahead and take the risk since I plan on upgrading to a built motor in the fall. btw, Im going to make 1-2 passes today, hope to see ya out there.

Car looks real clean though seems real high in the rear

You need to badly change that rear gear, those 2.73s are killing you!

def. man. The angle doesnt help the rear, though it def sits real high. The whole setup on the car is just out of whack after the damage during its wreck by the first owner.

Ill keep you updated, just get off your lazy rear and get to the track.

You'd end up walking my poor car with your times which would result in me getting upset and not driving it anymore

You are clearly getting the most out of the car since you lack any decent mods. I don't know how you are managing to get such decent times out of it with 2.73s!!!

I'll get to the track when you make the trip out here and install these cams with me

How is the driveability on the street with the prostars? What kind of studs, lugs, and spacers did you use?

the drivability is similar to other aluminum skinnies, though I have heard that they might be slightly softer than the others. I used moroso studs (part 46185), 7/16 inch spacers, and I fogot the brand name of the lugs.
