Ok so here's the deal. I am finally getting around to working on my old boat. It's a mid 80's 21' Supra Ski boat with a 351w. 2 years ago, the engine died. I have a redone 351 mexican block sitting around, so here is my plan. I wanna build it with a f303 cam and roller lifters from a 5.0. The heads on the boat are brand new rebuilt, so I'll re-use them. On top of this I want to stick a truck lower EFI intake, 42lb injectors, and a 03-04 Cobra Blower. I have been a fabricator in my younger days and was figuring on building an aluminum box plenum adaptor to go between the sc and manifold. I have a megasquirt II I would run it with and would use lake water through the factory intercooler core (if I can find one).

What do you guys think? Sound feasable?

I think it sounds like fun.:D

Do a lot of research first, a friend of mine went thru 4 302-351s in his boat project before he figured out there were major differences in the marine engine like balance, pistons in backwards depending on rotation, cams etc. You are probably better off trying to just freshen up the one you have without changing out many parts. My boat has 440s and their are a lot of marine specific parts in them.

Well I would, But the block is cracked.:nice:

I will double check the balance on the crank to make sure it matches the flywheel-thingy. I know the rotatation is right, because I put a starter out of a 95 f150 on it a couple years ago. The balance is a good point though because sbfs vary from 351 to 302 and HO to non HO. Have to read up on it. Also, a lot of the marine specific parts are due to corrosion control factors and not being able to tell if a owner will plunk their ski boat in the pacific, which I never will.

Thanks for the catch.

Anyone Else? Anybody know where I can find the intercooler that goes in the intake? I have a thread in the classifieds about it. Also, does anybody with a 03/04 know the stock lower pulley diameter?

P.S. I bought the blower today. (Thanks Rootus!)

I just rebuilt a 89 baja 220 sport, there is a lot of things that need delt with.besides head gaskets and freeze plugs the hard parts in a long block are the same car or boat.the marine engine uses different clearances(rod, main, ptw).if the engine is under a cover, you MUST use marine alternator, starter, fuel pump ,ign system, flame arrestor.the water pumps have bronze impellers.if you run wet exhaust(highly recommended) if have to be careful on cam selection so you don't get reversion.then after all that are you sure your outdrive up to the power, bravo 1 or king cobra? these are just a few things to address, and the police at lakes around here are checking engine compartments for complaince.by the time your done you could have KB on your car.good luck, fun projects but expensive
