Recently aquired a 8 wks old full-blooded Basset Hound. With all this dog talk going around I couldn't help but post of pics up of my new best friend. Her name is Molly and so far has been great. One of those dogs you can look and tell they are thinking about processing stuff that is going on, not quite sure if that is a bad or good thing yet. Anyways here are the pics...

two tips for blood hound...get her around as many people and other animals as possible, bring as many people and other animals as possible to the house as you can. The better understanding that other people and animals exist and are welcome into your home and while out and about, the more sociable and accepting she will be.

What you do in the first yr is most important...I wish I had known how important socialization in the home and outside of the home was. While the are more than protective of the home when unattended, they can be a handful when company comes a callin, or when left in the care of others, more interaction as puppies will result in a dog that's less hyper when people are introduced. Funny thing is though they may consider the home as their den to control...when it comes to the garage they have a VERY strong understanding of ownership...they will not come within 3 feet of the car and never approach others when I'm in there unless encouraged.

I think my lil lab was over socialized. She jumps on every Mfer who comes over.
