I have a 91 LX and it came with im guessing fords premium sound. I have an equalizer and a radio above it. My aftermarket radio came out of my 90 bronco and the plugs would be the same except for the equalizer connection. Anybody have this problem. I went to an audio store but they were no help.

If you look on the passenger side inside the console where the radio you will see a grey and a black connector. disconnect those, and then use a standard Ford radio harness and all will work. that is where the factory pigtailed the radio harness to use the "premium" sound. If you dont see it, trace the harness from the radio down, and you will see it. when i pulled the dash from my 93 I had that, plus the 91 i stripped, plus it go up in years too, a 95 V6 car I have most of my dash harness from had it....

I had the same problem with my Lincoln, there's a wire you must hook up, if yours has it, its the amp turn on wire. If you don't wire it in, you'll have NO sound from the speakers.

It'll sound not as good without the amp plugged in...I ran into it...it was a just 1 wire...if you can figure it out and can run the factory amp, it'll sound really good...

well the ppl before me really rigged up the stock amp harnesses and then ran their own wires back to the radio harness...didn't care for the install and too much wiring under the carpet (made it bulky) decided to just ditch it...it isn't as loud as it was before and i put all new speakers in...but i plan to run my subs and amp so it will be only highs running to my speakers no bass so i can crank it up a lot louder

I ended up pulling out my factory amp. i followed the harness from the amp up under the dash and found another harness that had the two connectors i needed to make the aftermarket radio out of my bronco work. when the radio was in the broco i used a kit from the audio store to make it work. that same kit matched the connectors on my stang. problem solved thanks for the help.
